Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Tobias has been running some fishing polls and it has gotten me interested in the members hunting habits or lack thereof.  So I have decided to run some hunting polls.  This first one will be very simple.

Question 1:  Do you hunt?

Question 2:  If the answer to Question 1 is no (and you don't mind telling), why not?

(There is no right or wrong answer to this question.  The aim here is not to establish whether hunting is right or wrong.  This is not meant to be an argumentative discussion.   The reason might simply be you don't have the opportunity.  Maybe your health will no longer permit it.  Maybe you just can't kill an animal.  Whatever the answer is, it is perfectly legitimate and reasonable for you.)

BTW, since this a sensitive subject to some, I will delete any comments which I feel are derogatory to someone else.

Question 1:  Do you hunt?

NO!

Question 2:  If the answer to Question 1 is no (and you don't mind telling), why not?

I live in Chicago, Illinois.  It is just too damn cost prohibitive and I have too many political hoops to jump through to own a rifle and then there is the hassle of finding a place to hunt.  Despite living right next to the only place in Chicago where you can legally duck hunt -- the waiting list for blind is a mile long and unless you "know" someone you're not going to get one.

So instead of hunting I fish.

Yes!! I hunt!!!

No we do not hunt

Donnie hunted for about 30 years and we have some beautiful mounts!  He does not however eat game LOL.  So he would go hunting and then we would have to find someone to give the meat too. In FL the game was too small to make it worth the hunt.  I think Case is as big as a FL deer.  Now I think he enjoys watching the game too much to shoot at them.

We do however still own all the hunting equipment, just in case he decides he wants to go

CAN'T hunt due to medical reasons.
Not in 25 yrs. I used to love to bird hunt. Now with work, there is not enough time, plus the hassle of finding someone who will let you hunt on their land. Leasing land is cost prohibitive for me. I do however still love to shoot my guns when possible.

I used to hunt , deer ducks rabbits that sort of thing . Too much trouble owning firearms over here and I basically stopped wanting to kill things after a while . Don't blame others for hunting though, I used to enjoy it !

Yes for 43 years.

I would love to be able to hunt other areas for game that I can't hunt locally.  Probably my best chance of ever doing that is black bear in Tennessee.

Tobias, I lived in Illinois for four years, in Kankakee.  I didn't hunt there either.  No place to hunt.  So like you I fished.  I fished in the Kankakee River.  On my way home from work I would often stop where a creek flowed into the river and fish for smallmouth bass.

When I deer hunt if I only get one or two, the meat goes in my freezer.  If I get two I usually give some away.  However in two different seasons I killed four deer.  When I did that I gave two of the deer away.  When I make jerky I usually give some of it away.

I am very fortunate.  A friend of mine at church lets me hunt on his farm.  He doesn't charge me and it is only five miles from my house.  Leasing is expensive.  I did lease for three years before my friend let me hunt on his property.  It wasn't a very good place to hunt but I was able to kill a deer each year I hunted it.  Where I hunt now is a very good place.  I see many deer and always let a lot more walk than I shoot.
