Jan, yes the carbon scales are quite captivating.. overall it is a really nice knife. The backlock spring is very hard to activate, but I worked it with oil over and over, so now it is smoother and a bit eaiser to activate. I also smoothed over the many sharp edges all around the knife with some jewelers rouge on a buffing wheel.. now no sharp edges. After a little work on it I choose to take it out more than any other knife .. it is relatively light also.
