Happy Happy Happy National Knife Day !!!!!!!!!
Knife Day is the day to appreciate the knives that folk use on a daily basis. This day is a celebration of this marvelous tool that has been with humans since the dawn of time.
I am not sure that most folks know about today...but we sure do. So…Continue
When I'm not playing with sharp objects or madly dashing across the country to rescue a relative, I help operate a small non profit called the South Coast Community Land Trust based in Big Sur, CA. I'm a Board Director and Secretary of the SCCLT, and Entertainment/Volunteer Director of our one big fund raising event each year, the Big Sur Jade Festival. We raise money for several community organizations, but our main focus is helping the students of the local K-12 public…Continue

And one more hunting knife. This one will hunt in the Great plains of the dining-room and the Valley of the Kitchen.
Shortly after #14 it is time for #15. Actually, I was working on these two brothers at the same time.
At first #15 was planneed to be with one whole piece of acacia for handle, but I decided it was too poor. So I cut the piece in two, removed the metal guard, put two pieces of twisted oak, cut corian guard and heel and added stainless steel spacers. This was assembled and disassembled about 3413873165 times, utill it fitted (almost) as I wanted it to fit.…Continue
The Canadian belt knife is gone to his new owner and it was time to start making the new knife. Since I'm obsessed with the minions - of cource the next knife is a tiny one.
The steel is 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to about 60HRc. Sapele and black corian handle, impregneted with linseed oil and polished with carnauba wax. The sheath is calf blank, oiled with Vaseline to stay soft and to prevent absorbing moisture.
OAL - 160mm, blade only - 70/27/3,7mm.…Continue
The knife is an order from a satisfied customer.
The steel is 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to about 60 HRc, the handle is palm tree. You all know the dimensions.…Continue
D3 steel, hardened up to about 61 HRc, corian with acacia and walnut handle.
The knife is order from a pleased customer and is a gift for his friend. This is why i've put some more time and effort in making it. This is it's second handle - the first one was just as ordered - white corian, alder and Rhodopean spurce. But the alder's flader didn't came uot very good, and some internal voids showed out in the spurce. I could have the voids filled and go on with the poor…

The fatal #13 of the minions' tribe!
The steel is 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to about 60 HRc, corian and acacia handle with brass spacers. The mounting is with hidden nut and the heel is held with brass rivets.
This one was also assembled and disassembled about 654296641 until finally everything was fitted together and I was pleased with it.…
I haven't made this model for quite a long time, but I still can do it. The steel is 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to about 60 HRc. The handle is black micarta.…Continue
Thought I would start a blog here to showcase the work of my favorite knifemaker. I stumbled across Alan Davis, a knifemaker from Boerne, Texas, in late 2012. I was blown away by his knife designs. Even more astounding was the fact that they were virtually all one of a kind creations. Alan didn't just make one or two patterns and then just outfit them with different materials. Each and every one was pretty much different. While he did have a few designs that people seemed to like and…Continue
This is a Tanto that was given to me by the widow of my best friend that died a few years ago. He loved the Japanese swords, and unfortunately I know little of its history. I did have an expert look at it, who determined it was made from a cut down (or broken) WWII Japanese sword. The polishing is not correct, the shape of the blade tip is a bit off, but the parts are all authentic and someone put a lot of time into this piece. The collar was noted as being very…Continue

I assembled and disassembled it about 198769312 times. But it came out really interesting and a bit different from it's brothers.
The steel is 1.2379 (D2), 61 HRc, OAL - 165mm, blade only ~75х25х4mm. The handle is white corian, composite wood, acacia and stainless steel and brass spacers.

Another tiny one. This one went away before I had the chance to make some photos, so I use photos made from the new owner.
The steel is 1.2379 (D2), 61 HRc, the handle is wenge.
The name is untranslatable pun - in Bulgarian "wenge" is the wood and when you add "r" (wenger) it means "warlock".

I like a great looking knife , I really do .
Just as with most people a fancy set of handle scales or a little damascus really get's my attention . I have one or two knives that are very attractive and I wouldn't part with them for any reason , but I pick up and carry the same few knives all the time . With the greatest respect to the talented guys who have designed my users they do have one thing in common , they are Plain !
I never really thought of this until I started…Continue

After a long break - I sold my appartment and moved out, I started working again.
This one is ordered as a gift - first knife for a newbie hunter. The customer - a friend of the hunter chose the shape of the blade and left me to choose the handle materials. At this time I was drawn by the Dark side of the Force, so I decided to put black corian and yellow and black composite wood and black fiber spacers. The steel is 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to 61 HRc. OAL - 230mm, blade -…Continue
