Oops, I did it again!

Brittany Spears once sang, "Oops I did it again", and by golly I did exactly that! New Buck #112 w/ Drop Point blade & real ebony handles: https://www.buckknives.com/product/112-ranger-knife-drop-point/0112BRS1-B/

I intend to carry this knife, it will be a nice addition to my EDC rotation.

This is a new blade option and I like it. It's kind of a "finally"…

Michael's Knife

Nothing fancy or special, but it was made in 2014 which was the year my grandson Michael was born. Been watching for awhile but finally a 2014 came up for sale. I have a knife for each kid in my life made the year of their birth, they will of course get them one day but I'm keeping them for awhile so I can carry and use them. To me the most precious knife I own is the fixed blade Kinfolks K380 my dad bought on his 18th birthday in 1926, he used it a lot before he gave it to me, and it having…

New Knives During Quarantine

Here are a couple of Bucks that arrived today, two #112 Slim Selects, my new favorite for EDC, (I carry a #112 Slim Pro every day). This is a wonderful model for EDC, strong, affordable and nearly indestructible. The deep carry pocket clip is the best pocket clip I've ever used, and I have a few Case knives & others with pocket clips, not one of those come close to being as well designed, easy to use and secure as these; they are reversible too. Slip one of these into a back pocket and…

Did a little organizing!

On this 2020 Memorial Day weekend there is little else to do, so I decided to try and get all my knives into one room, I figured why have them if I'm going to keep them in a box in the closet. One of these days I want to get or make a few new display cases, more permanent ones made to fit the knives better, (like a store display-type box), but for now what I have will have to do. First is the big box which contains most of my Buck collection and includes every model number of the 300 Series…

This was worth the wait, my daughter gave me a special cane, and I found an oldie!

Just received a 1967-1972 Buck #112 Ranger in pretty good condition. Nothing extra special about it other than those were my high school years, ('67-'71), and my first year in college, (1972). I have another version of this model, the #112 Slim Pro, which I have carried every day since I got it, so I wanted the "regular" version too because this is the perfect size knife to carry for every day use, (IMHO). It also came with the old style low hanging leather sheath, which…

This Craftsman is cool!

Well, I was gonna wait until another delivery happens to post here, but this one arrived first and I like it so much I thought I'd go ahead and post it today. Craftsman 95068 Stockman, similar size as a Buck #303 Cadet, (3 3/8" closed for the Buck, 3 1/2" for this Craftsman). I have been wanting a good one of these for awhile, and this one is in splendid condition, tight & sharp full blades, no wiggle, little to no usage visible, a good deep cleaning and…

2019 Buck Slim Select Folding Hunter

Another Ebay find for just over $20, a 2019 Buck 110 Slim Select in new condition. I needed this like a hole in the head but could not resist the price. My daily carry is a 112 Slim Select Pro and I love it dearly, so I figured I may as well have a set. This has Buck's new indestructible handle material in Blue which is very comfortable in the hand. It has the usual 420hc blade, (same as the standard 110), and a belt clip. That belt clip is the best clip I have ever used on…

New Hi-Carbon Kitchen Knife

Another thrift store find, an old "Forgecraft Hi Carbon" kitchen knife, made from old sawmill band saw blades with maple handle; paid $7 for it.. Turns out that Forgecraft is a popular chef's knife and there is a thriving trade in used ones on Kitchen Knife Forums. Apparently the brand was owned by Washington Forge and they stopped using the brand name in the 60's, so this knife is at least that old. Also apparently there is a tang stamp chart somewhere but I haven't found it yet, it will…

1998 Custom Buck #305 Lancer

Thanks to a heads up from Jan I just snagged this custom little Buck #305 Lancer from Greg Holmes at Trestle Pines Knives. It is lightly used but is otherwise in excellent condition. Whoever did the customizing did a fantastic job, the transition from bolster to handle is as perfect as a factory job, and the handle itself is smooth as factory smooth bone. Greg also added a bit of class to the transaction by including a nifty little zipper pouch; well done Greg.

This is my first truly…

'72-'86 Buck #307 Wrangler in Yellow Sawcut Delrin

Here is something you don't see that often, a '72-'86 Buck #307 Wrangler in Yellow Sawcut Delrin made by Camillus for Buck. I've seen this handle color in post '86 Buck-made knives, but this is the first one of this color and vintage that I've seen for sale, so I couldn't resist, (I have seen other models of this era in Yellow Delrin but this was the first yellow #307 I've seen). I have Yellow Delrin knives of models #301, (post "86), #303, (also post '86), #332, #331 Barlows & #322…

IKC auction Remington R1063 Jack Knife

I've been offline awhile, sorry about that, but naturally one of the first things I do when back is to bid on a pocket knife. Won the bidding on this old Remington Jack here on IKC, it has great jigged bone handles and it is in decent condition considering how sharpened-down the blades are,(though still very usable). The seller Bryan took better photos than I did, so I'll post those here instead of mine. It is a very solid knife, even after being well-used and oft-sharpened. I would rate the…

Thrift store find!

Finally a new, (to me), knife to report, a genuine Camillus TL-29 found at one of my honey hole local thrift stores. Hardwood handle, stamped with the model number and in pretty good condition, (shown as found, uncleaned). Glad to be collecting again, at least for the time being.…

Thrift Store Treasure

Just found this Camillus 5" Boy Scouts Of America Folding Hunter, jigged bone handles, single bolster, BSA shield & inscription, and oh, did I mention the oh-so-cool secondary serrated blade? This has separate locks for each blade, something I have never seen before. I've been watching this knife at a local thrift store for months, hoping no one would buy it out from under me, fortunately it was priced so high no one snagged it, so I took a chance and waited for a sale. Well, today they…

I'm back.....kinda

Well, I've not been that active in collecting knives the past year, but having had two major surgeries and concentrating on trying to pay off the knives I had purchased previous to a year ago has kept me otherwise occupied; until today. Having been pretty much confined to home most of the year got the best of me today, I was feeling good, and was done with the major event I put on in Big Sur annually so I decided I needed to get out of the house and me being me I chose to go on a thrift…

Spring 2018 Update

Finally recovering  a bit from cervical spinal fusion surgery, talk about steel, I now have a titanium plate/screws in my neck and am now getting ready for yet another surgery sometime in May, (rotator cuff repair), that one may require hardware too; sigh....

Despite those distractions I have managed to obtain a knife or two that I will mention here. Just received this very nice Camillus-made Crossman 932A 3 3/4" closed wood-handled folder, (Ash handle I think?). I don't…

1990 Buck #314 Buckbone Trapper

Having recently endured a cervical vertebrectomy, (removal of discs and bone, replaced with bone grafts & SS plates leaving my spinal cord exposed until the grafts grow in), I wondered if the surgeon had cut out the part of me that addictively purchases collectible pocket knives? I got my answer today with the arrival of a 1990 Buck #314 Buckbone Trapper. My neck seems to be healing up well, but the urge to practice retail therapy remains. I already have a #312 Buckbone Mini Trapper from…

It never ends!!

Even though I have been having some medical issues lately, my desire, (ie; addiction), to acquire new and different slipjoints continues unabated. Though I was unable to sit at the computer till recently, (had an epidural last week so I am able to sit up a little better now), I still managed to find a couple of knives that were in my opinion "must haves".

A friend in the BCCI, (Buck Collectors Club), suggested I begin looking for Camillus "clones" of the 300 Series knives…

Sometimes luck finds you!

Stopped at the mini mart just down the street today, and when I came out I was approached by what I thought was a panhandler. However, instead of asking for spare change the guy asked if I wanted to buy a knife!? He handed me this Cold Steel Counter Point II and said, "I'll take $5 for it". I wasn't sure exactly how much this was worth being an import, but I figured $5 was a good deal nonetheless. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth I handed him a fiver, got in my car and…

Cold Steel Irish Blackhorn Walking Stick

Well, I didn't expect to find this, especially around here.

As stated in the title this is a Cold Steel Irish Blackhorn Walking Stick, (not to be confused with their Irish Blackthorn Shillelagh which has longer knobby things on the stick and sells for less). Smokey Mountain Knife Works sells these for $46.99, (when in stock), which is the reason I didn't buy one when I visited the store, the price was just a little high for me that day, (though…

New Display Case

Found this little mirrored display case at a local antique shop, (though as usual it is NOT an antique). It can be set on a flat surface or hung on a wall. I picked this up with the intention of installing a lock and using it as a sales display for knives at a local consignment antique store. They asked me to consider selling there because they know I collect, and they claim that old knives sell well. I intended on filling it with my "extras" and the many old knives I have collected over the…
