Another question about curating knife collections:

Any of you use desiccants to protect your collections? If so, where do you live, (how humid?) and in what what do you keep your knives? (I make drawer cases for all manner of collectors -and lots of knife collectors- and wonder if I ought to help them worry about corrosion.)

Thanks Gary. You are right. Good stuff micro-crystalline wax. If Bill Powell has a web site, I'd be tickled to link to him. But in the mean time, I got curious about the state of such chemicals and did a little research. I plan to post my thoughts in the main blog.

You are right Don -but I have actually built air-tight display cases -but for photos. I suspect a light coating of mineral oil might work better on a knife then daguerreotype. (And I have to compliment your web-master. Your spell check took me right to 'daguerreotype" with dang little help from the mangled word I originally typed.)
