Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

There are many different kinds of sheaths. I like the ones that snap up on the knife handle. The ones that snap lower around the thumb piece, to me, does not work well. Its easy to get the knife out, but not so easy to get the knife back in.

Below is a picture of 10 different kinds of knife sheaths.

Do you have any different kinds or pictures of sheaths.

I just might try that. Thanks Robert. What do you think of those new Case Sheaths that wrap around from the top down?. There are two of them in my picture. Again, getting the knife out is OK but getting it back in takes two hands and twisting of the back.

You could use the same system on a pair of pants if they have belt loops. It's a quick connect type system.

Good idea, but I can't wear shorts to the farm, to many briars and poison ivy.

I ware shorts sometimes in the Summer and I don't ware a belt, so I attach a fixed blade this way. I just snap it on a belt loop that's on the shorts.

Robert, some good thoughts there. I love a fixed blade also, but I don't often wear one. The reason is I don't like to wear a belt and you have to have one on with a fixed blade. Also with a fixed blade on, its uncomfortable in the pickup. But I break down and wear one every once in a while. I love the leather smell of sheaths. I am going to wear one more this summer, I have decided on that. Thanks Robert for your thoughtful comments.

The sheath with the basket weave, I had made extra for that knife. I have had several sheaths made for knives that came with a different style sheath. The main thing about a sheath is that they ride high on the hip. If they ride to low they are uncomfortable and hit everything.

I don't know why but over the years people have gotten away from fixed blades and their sheaths. They prefer a large folder. I am on a one man crusade to bring back the fixed blade. I believe that if the sheath was more comfortable, more people would use them. A high ride comfortable sheath may be the answer. If your favorite knife has a uncomfortable sheath, have a good one made for it.

This is the sheaths I spoke of earlier. The two to the right are stich around and the two, to the left are one sided stich type sheaths. These are my favorite.
