Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I know a lot of ya'll have that special hunting knife that you use more than all the rest. It may be an old one, or one handed down from family members. Maybe it's a custom, made to your specs. Well, what ever it is, I know ya'll have one and I'd love to see them. I think, a lot of our members would too. If you have one to hunt deer and another to hunt birds, that's fine, let's see them all. Please.

Robert, I think my favorite hunting knife - in a fixed blade - is the PIC Soligen that I posted in the fixed blade site. When I get home I will try to post it here. It is small enough to use on small game and large enough to use on big game. I prefer my Old Timer Muskrat for cleaning game, but if I were to use a fixed blade it would be my PIC.

Real nice Ken. I'm not familiar with a PIC. Who made it?

I think it is a German brand, not sure, but made in Soligen, Germany

I love all those German fixed blades with stag handles. I always thought they should be higher priced. German folders bring in a respectable price but the fixed blades for some reason are under valued.

Hunting season for me means I get to start carrying and using some of my most favorite knives. Most have been with me a while, except for one it's a new one. It's a small Swamp Fox forged 1095 carbon steel knife. It has Sambar stag scales. I have been using it to clean squirrels and it's been doing fine. I'll be changing to one of my older knives for deer season.

Anyone have that favorite hunting knife their about to start using this hunting season?

Robert, I am carrying that trusty old timer Muskrat again this hunting season.

Yea, some knives just seem to get the job done and are hard to get replaced. Last year for deer season, I carried a new one, made by Alex Noot. I plan on carrying it but also changing up sometimes with my old time favorite, a small Treeman. The Treeman has been with me a while and has cleaned a ton of deer. They will both see service this year.

Make sure to show us some pics of them in use right here please?  I have seen Donnie getting out some hunting equipment, with the move coming up I am not sure i wont see some hunting happening again LOL

I have three hunting knives I like to call my favorites.

My favorite hunting knife is this fixed blade custom made for me by Lucas Bullington of Lucas Forge.  (http://customhuntingknives.org/)  It was made using antler from one of my deer kills for scales.  It is made from 01 tool steel.  I have not used it yet.  Don't know if I ever will.  Right now it is part of my collection. Once it is used, it will always be used.

When I go deer hunting I like to carry my Buck Omni Hunter.  I have used it on multiple deer including the one whose antlers are on the knife above.

When I am just roaming the woods, riding my four wheeler, checking my game camera, or such I like to carry my Rough Rider Sidewinder.  I chopped down that tree it is stuck in with it. That's about a three inch thick tree. (http://iknifecollector.com/group/roughridercollectors/forum/topics/...)

Charles, those are some fine knives. I think I would have to use that custom knife on hunting trips. My Treeman knife is a custom and expensive but I started using it right away. I wanted to use a knife that is real pretty and the blade is something special. It will cut and keep cutting with the best of them.
