The beast is legend in our chat room.  Ron, your right it is alot of work there!

Steve,

What a coincidence! I had never heard of, or seen, one of those until just last night when I was watching an episode of "Buying Alaska."

The house that a couple was thinking of buying had one of those "Beasts." It turned out to be one of the deal breakers because the husband realized how much work it would be...cutting the wood, stacking the wood, and "feeding the beast."

I don't envy you, but I sure as heck salute you for providing warmth for your family. "You're a good man, Charlie Brown!"

I wonder how many people will be getting a hunting/outdoorsman knife this Christmas? I always enjoyed a new knife as a Christmas present. No matter how many I have there's always room for one more. Maybe a new one in a new type of steel or made of a handle material, that you love. What kind would you like for Christmas?

No, he didn't get to clean any wild animals with it but he did prepare some wild pork for a stew with it. Two deer and four wild hogs were killed but some other hunters cleaned the game. I came close to getting a shot at a nice buck but before I could get a shot off, he slipped away. If I kill something, he will for sure get to use it. He is really proud of that Benchmade knife.

Robert,

I am sure glad he is enjoying that knife!  Please let us know if he gets to clean anything with it on this trip?

Thanks Steve, I might try it on my next camping trip. There's a cold snap coming.

We are heading back to our camp today, to get a little work done and go hunting. I have a special supper planned for my grand daughter and her boy friend. I'm going to grill some deer and beef steaks. Paul is still using and enjoying the Benchmade knife I won, on IKC, and gave to him last year. He really brags on that knife. I hope he gets to use it cleaning a deer or wild hog. It's the best knife he has ever owned.

Yep Charles, a wood burning stove brings back memories for me also. One of my favorite memories is pot roasting some Woodcock on one with my old Paw Paw. My grand daughter and her boy friend helped me bring it out to the camp today. We'll install it in the next few days.
