Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Here is a place to post those Steel Warriors and Frost branded knives. I know that a lot of you out there have them. I have heard mention of them from time to time.. I started really getting into collecting on a lot of these because you could get whole sets for very little money. S0 here is a place that you can show them.

I was looking for a six blade congress that was similar to the one that Lincoln had but when I came across this one, I thought I'll look for a Lincoln Congress later.  Quite franky, the blade I like the blade options on this one better than the blades on Lincoln's knife.  His had a sheepfoot, and spear main blade plus a small coping, two pen blades and small file.

As you can see the small blades on this one include a pen, coping, wharncliffe, and clip.  It would've been nice had one of the sheepfoots been a spear but I could also re-profile one of them easy enough it I really wanted to!

I have a few Whitetail, mostly the sunfish pattern. They are ok for the price point. Unless Frost has changed, those are probably made in Pakistan. His Ocoee River line is pretty nice. It has been several years since I have bought a Frost branded knife. Steel Warrior is one of his best lines. As far as his German lines, Buck Creek is decent, but the Hen and Roosters are overpriced.

Billy this one is made in China.  One of the reasons I opted to buy it.  Had it been made in Pakistan I would have passed.

I'm sure it was a lot better build then. Most Pakistan knives are junk, although I do have a few that are ok. Their steel is suspect.

you are so correct, Billy.   I tend to give them away when I end up with them.  I've yet to find a folding knife from Pakistan that was worth any good.

I have a couple Pakistan made fixed blades that are good but most aren't worth a plug nickel.   I have maybe three or four I like, one them being the Celtic Clover  Skinner made by Brian Wilhoite.

Of course the sheath is a piece of garbage.!  I also have a couple Fox N hound knives that I like despite the 420 Stainless used in the blades.  I've given away several Pakistan made Colts and Rough Riders.  Had i known they were made in Pakistan when i bought them, I would have saved my money.

As a general rule is I see a fixed blade knife with "GENUINE STAG HANDLE"   and a Damascus blade and it is under $60  I assume it is made in Pakistan and move on.

Just found this discussion, and also just happened to pick up a Steel Warrior today. The local hardware store had a "no sales tax" sale today, (in this county sales tax is 8.75 %), and I had a $5 off coupon ta boot, so I picked up this SW red boned trapper for under $15 out the door. Though this is my first SW, like my other Frost Chinese-made knives, this one is well made & has tight, sharp, centered blades, and has the familiar red arrow pointing to the Rockwell test dimple. The handle is beautiful and smooth too. Probably could have found the same knife online for around the same price or maybe less, but today I kept it local. Sorry for the sub-standard photos, but I'm photographically challenged, so ya git what ya git!

Nice one, Syd.

Hey the pics are not bad, the deal was actually a good one and Congrats on the first SW!!  Good Choice

Thanks Jan, yup, yesterday was a pretty good day knife-wise for me. This one compares closely to the Pride Cutlery White Jigged Bone Trapper I posted photos of earlier, but this SW seems to have a wider profiled main blade, which I especially like about this particular knife. I also like the bolsters, if they are not brass they are brass plated, so color-wise that goes nicely with the red bone handle.

I'm a trapper fan, and I was intending to get a SW eventually anyway. I just took advantage of the saving $5 plus 9%, and snapped it up yesterday for that reason. Trappers fit my hands well and are my preferred EDC, but I prefer to carry them on my belt. The 5"-sized folders get in the way a little too much for my taste, so more often than not my belt knife is a trapper. I have some surplus leather East German ammo sheaths that fit trapper-sized knives perfectly, so this knife will go into my daily EDC rotation in one of those.

I discovered today that lighting was the problem with my photos. The flash on my camera is really lame, and even with an indoor floodlight this particular camera  just takes crappy indoor photos. However, outdoor light solves the problem, so here is a better photo. From now on my photos posted here will be outdoor photos.

There you go!  I have the same issues and use outdoor lighting whenever I can

Yeah, it seems to make a big difference. I tried several schemes to reduce the glare from indoor floods to try and get some of those beautiful photos some of the folks around here post, then I realized that most of those were outside photos.

Recently I have begun documenting all my knives by taking photos of them to keep in a folder on my laptop, the thinking being that when I go all my daughter has to do is open that folder to find descriptions and photos of the entire collection. I have so much stuff left from my parents that I don't have historical info on, (meaning what it was, who it belonged to, etc, etc), that I am determined to NOT do that to my heirs. When I'm done they will find everything documented and organized. The few items I have of my parents that I know something about are my most prized possessions. Hopefully if I document all of my stuff ahead of time my daughter and grandson will know exactly what I am leaving for them, and not have to wonder about what & where..

Point being, all those photos will be outdoor photos.

Just make sure they have the password.  Manx did some testing on a program that Charles is also using you might like it!

one of the things I like about it is that Charles also keeps his on a thumb drive.  Even if there is a crash or glitch you have the whole thing that can be passed to someone.  The creator is a member and part of that discussion so if there are any questions, feel free to ask them
