I deal a lot on Ebay, and I have filed my share of cases. Almost without fail, Ebay will settle your grievance in your favor...particularly when you purchased based on the descriptions provided. You do need to do whatever you can with the seller directly - then open a refund case.

Unfortunately, you will end up being the one with the greatest loss - because you won't have the knife you wanted. You will have to determine if this incident will impact your relationship with this seller. If you come off as pissed off - your fears of being banned from his shop may come to pass. But if you treat this as possibly an honest mistake on the seller's part - I think then only your feelings of not having the knife will be impacted.

If you spend as much as you say you do with this seller, then what is the cost of the relationship from your perspective? Just things to consider.

Since it was advertised as mint, I would definitely ask for a refund.
