I had recently seen a picture of Peter Hammer's last Wotan build. It was a high polish blade with a wood handle. I have requested he allow me to use it and I will post here if he does.

What I did so far was remove the Kraton handle and media blast the coating off the knife. After which I did run it under a wire wheel.

Before and after blasting:

I kinda like this "Satin" finish, but I will probably change my mind later.

Now to figure out a handle. That is a Huge hidden tang to cover up, 4-1/4" total length, 1/4 x 5/8 stock.

Any ideas?

Here is Peter Hammer's last Custom Wotan. I do not know the species of wood, but I would guess Cocobolo.

So how's this going Brad? Did you get to work on it anymore?

Yes, the suspense is agonizing.

good look with your project Michael.

Oh my goodness! Has it been 3-1/2 months? So sorry, but once again I have been preoccupied with regular work.

But, I think I recall there being an small issue that sent me off into fit. I will address progress tomorrow morning for an update.

sorry about it giving you a fit but am sure looking forward to seeing it

Brad has the longest days EVER. Lol.

So busy, no time to address any of these yet. Saturdays are now filled with 8 y/o daughter's soccer games. I'm not missing one game. She has got better with each weekend.

I guess you need to make yourself a portable shop then. lol

Dont miss a moment of it Brad!  She will only be 8 one time!!  We will be right here when you get to the knives.
