That is a great story Rome!  I love stories like that!

Years ago when we asked my father what he wanted for christmas he told

us "all I want for Christmas is a Red Ryder BB gun".  Well he did not know

that Daisy had just come out with the Red Ryder comm. rifle.  So on xmas

day there under the tree was a present for dad, a Red Ryder BB gun.

All he could say was "I will watch what I say around this group from now

on".

He has let all of his grandchildren shoot the BB gun as they came into the

right age and it still resides behind a bedroom door to this day.

I'm not sure if I'm able to do this, so forgive me if I step on toes or bend any rules. I am selling a BenchMade BenchMite, model 3100-401, #41 of 500, rainbow stainless scales, 1.95" blade, spring assisted. Never carried, stored in box with paperwork. Asking $320 or would like to trade for Spyderco Rubicon. Can email pictures on request. Thank you.

I haven't been buying many SMKW housebrands or SFOs since the demise of Knives Live TV.  (out of sight, out of mind, i guess!) Anyway, the catalog showed up and they had the 75th anniverasry Red Ryder Boys Knife, so I kinda, sorta had to order it! It's not as good as the old USA made Colonial but i like the red bone better than the Tobacco bone RR Boys knife.  I would've preferred it if SMKW had done an SFO with an American Company or just had it done on Victorinox Fieldmaster.

L to R  Colonial (USA), 75th Aniv (China), Current Standard (China)

The glamor shot

Just the main blade

Shield - you'd think they could've put a R R on the wings of the shield! It's the little details that could've made this thing pop!

Yes it is the Forged in fire on the history channel

n each episode, four master bladesmiths will put their skills and reputations on the line, trying to avoid elimination while using traditional and state-of-the-art tools and machinery to turn raw metal into authentic working versions of classic bladed weapons of yesteryear. In the hands of these gifted craftsmen, every weapon is not just a lethal instrument of war, but also an elegant work of art. The colorful histories of these weapons will be told throughout the forging process. Then the weapons will be assessed and tested by a panel of internationally recognized judges.

From USA Knifemaker Supply (http://usaknifemaker.com/) comes this announcement:

Knifemaking TV Show Coming to History Channel

Good news!

A new TV show on History Channel all about making knives!

The History Channel is currently shooting an elimination style TV show featuring

several knife makers doing their best to win the top prize.

No air dates have been set yet but we believe it will air this fall. Fellow KnifeDog

Mastersmith J. Nielson is one of the judges. Weapons expert Wil Willis will host

along with judges Doug Marcaida and David Baker.

The more exposure there is to custom knife making, the better it will be for

all of us in the community.
