Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

What knife would you prefer to carry? If only you could do as you wish?

We make our choice of a knife to carry based on many factors.
These may include:

what is legal to carry? what will a knife be needed to do? what will the conditions be?

what clothing will be worn? what will others think about it? what is actually practical?

If none of these things stood in your way, what would you carry and how would you carry it?

Photos would be nice.

This Gerber has proven to be my preferred EDC for in the pocket. I am fortunate to have a permit to do so. Sure there are some custom knives that are the equivalent. But, I don't want to worry about jewelry. That's just my preference, because I'm rough on a blade. Pouches with snaps are okay, but awkward at times, especially when returning the knife to it. If I carry a fixed blade, I want a pouch sheath that doesn't require a snap strap. An 8 inch blade is long enough, unless bushwhacking. But, then there are many special needs knives to fit the occasion or the task.

I currently carry this fixed blade Morakniv Robust daily along with whatever folder I have on me. It has an 1/8 in thick blade that is tough enough for most jobs and is easy to resharpen, It's inexpensive, but of surprising quality.. I'm trying to find a reason why I would upgrade though. Maybe I will see some better options here.

Can't post pics right now, but I would for sure carry a Camper every day, a Peanut in my watch pocket, probably a Stockman, a Half Hawk, and a Marine Corps fighting knife on my hip. That is if I didn't have to worry about where I was going or to much in my pockets.

Right about now for the one preferred option is the knife I have in my pocket every day.

I have always hated this question. Which one out of all the great knives out there? The reason I hated the question is I always had an answer but it seemed the answer (the knife I mean) changed frequently. However, for a few months now I've carried two knives. For a folder I always have a Spyderco worker sprint run that is out most recently. For a fixed blade I carry a Carter Cutlery neck knife. Before anyone else says it I will. They are expensive as S***. Especially for my wallet. But, I've had (and still do) several folders that if I add up the prices they would buy more Carter knives. I don't collect and have gone through many knives because I love them. Always have. I buy them from time to time and after a while if I don't carry them much I sell or trade them and try something else. This has been going on for about 6 years I think. Maybe a bit more. Anyway, I have some knives I really love but what do I CARRY??? The Spyderco worker sprint run and a Carter Cutlery neck knife. For me the Spyderco worker is a great pocket knife. It's a great folder. It's a great Spyderco. But I can say that about SO many other folding knives. It's just that the worker clicks for me. I bought a second one just in case something happens to the one I carry now. I also made a set of bocote wood scales for the one I carry.

The Carter neck knives are a different story however. I have never used a knife I love more than these. I have two neck knives and a Kuro-uchi kitchen knife. I don't use the kitchen knife much but I use the neck knives every day. In case anyone isn't aware you can now get an apprentice made Carter Cutlery knife. They are called the Muteki models. That was the first one I got and they are far less expensive than the original Carter knives. They are still expensive but I think they are worth it. Then I got an original Carter neck knife because he was offering the free Kuro-uchi with it. I did have to sell a couple of folders to help with these guys. The folders I didn't carry much. I had already discovered carrying a knife in a neck sheath is without any doubt the easiest access there is. Of course your daily attire may prevent this. You can, and I do sometimes, drop it inside my shirt when in public in some places. It's still there for use but the "easy access" is gone. Much easier to reach in my pocket. But for me, since I don't work any more and need to dress a certain way I can carry what I want. And using a Carter neck knife is an absolute joy when it comes to using a tool. The "real" Carter knife or the Muteki. When using them I can't tell any difference in performance. Both get SUPER sharp and stay sharp. The Hitachi white steel he uses is as good as I've seen. I'm no steel expert but I know how much EDC use the knives I've carried hold an edge. The white steel is great when forged properly. That's according to Murray Carter in a  video of his comparing white steel to blue steel. I've needed to use the Carter knives to cut back a little brush in my yard. Not hard use for a lot of people but I did notice the comfort of the handles. No hot spots or uncomfortable places on the handle. IMO a knife's main point is how well it cuts and how long it stays sharp. I HATE HATE HATE a knife that dulls quickly. But also the comfort of the handle is a HUGE deal if you use a knife a lot. Especially if there's a lot of hard cutting being done. Anyway, I highly recommend a Carter Cutlery neck knife for EDC. Expensive? Yup. But now I don't even think about it. I just use the knife. But, if I loose it as sometimes happens to knives, then I'd consider the cost because I can't just replace an item of that price every day. But like a lot of things, knives can be a personal thing. You like one or you don't. :)

if none of these things stood in my way..??

ofcourse a fixed blade

not too big and well balanced..

                  i think my linder superedge-3 would do almost any job   ( ATS-34  kraton handle..180gr  25cm )

supersharp   60 hrc  full-tang....  what else ?

but not legal in urban situations  so .....i go for my  lionsteel TM-1lionsteel TM-1-1 ( sleipner blade  micarta handle 130gr 20.5cm )  that i carry almost daily

linder superedge-3

I like ATS 34 ,I have a little Queen knife with a blade made out of it , yours looks a little more impressive though Kees .
