Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I like USA made Schrades & Schrade-Walden knives...obviously. Old Timers, Uncle Henry's and the models that pre-dated those lines. Saw-cut Delrin, Stagalon, Butter-n-Molasses, etc. handles. They're all great in my book.

I am proceeding slowly with adding to my collection, in the beginning I was going like gang busters. But, the pickings are getting slim at least for good/great condition knives.

Although I am not buying much now, I never tire of seeing them or looking for them. So if you have some or have come into some, let me see them.

Eventually I will try to get all I currently have into 1(or 3) photos for this discussion. For now these will have to do.

Doug,

Could you provide a clearer pic of the tang stamps?

I just got the rest of my pics taken

Doug I have heard this one was made by GEC but never confirmed it.  If you look here, as of 2012 it was not on their list

I have sent myself a reminder for next week.  I have to call Kevin Pipes and I will ask him

Here is a pic ( picture from internet images) of the tang stamp on a Schrade auto made by GEC       Sure looks the same to me

I agree Doug, they sure look the same and I think you may have answered your own question!

Tom

Well Doug I own a number of those and yes they are indeed GEC.  Tang looks very much the same

This knife comes close to the Holy Grail for me. As far as I know, Schrade used Jigged Blue Bone on only two knife sets, a Special Edition Set that consisted of 4 folders and a PH-2, and the 100 year anniversary Cigar Box set that had the rope jigging.  Herman Williams got ahold of of some of the rope jigged handles for the 227UH. He sanded them down a bit and then re-jigged them with the old peachseed style jigging with the very machine that Schrade used. He only got 12 sets of handles. I've already spoken for another set so there are only 10 remaining at this time. While this is not a "one of a kind" it is pretty unique.

Doug,

LOVE the blue!  I also very much appreciate that he tang stamps them.  There will never be a generation that has to guess why the knife doesnt look like the schrades they find online

These 3 knives recently arrived

The MM152  1989-91 was made for Tru-Value Hardware..the MM stands for Master Mechanic..The parts were made by Schrade and assembled by Camillus. I believe that this is the only Old Timer model that doesn't have SCHRADE on the tang Stamp. The info that I have found on this knife indicates it should have a Master Mechanic shield. I would appreciate anyone input.

The SC509 Lit'l Finger is one of 2 patterns, that I am aware of, that Schrade made in white bone at the Ellenville factory. The 260 Daddy Barlow commemorating the Peter Stuyvesant Park is the only other one. The parts for the I-XL Schrade Wostenholm white bone knives were made in Sheffield England and assembled at the Ellenville N.Y. factory.

Here is a I-XL Schrade Wostenholm canoe with stag handles.

Doug,

I love that Lil' Finger in White bone. I have 3 Lil' Fingers, 1 in Stag and 2 in Delrin. Think I may rehandle one of the Delrins, Another project without a start or completion date. LOL
