Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I recently picked up 4 old T29 Electrician pattern knives. Two branded Colonial are 3 bladers, a 2 blade Imperial and a Mint Schrade 2 blade.

The Schrade is going to my son for Christmas (he is an auto electrician) One of the 3 blade Colonials will be restored - gently - and left as is. The other two have become project knives.

This weekends progress with one of the Hawkbill blades becoming a sheepsfoot and the overall knife reduced in size slightly.

Note the 'Henry Boker' Pliers

TL 29 are great project knives, you are getting along nicely. I would love to see more WIP photos.

Thanks for sharing.

Mike

!!! .. Way cool & very nice .. !!!

Thanks for posting the detailed pics.

Looks like you're well on your way to a sheepsfoot barlow.
I've very similar project cups .. measuring cups for laundry soap .. where mine came from.

.

Boker pliers .. now how cool is that !!

I have a new Colonial type TL29 electrical knife recently purchased directly from Colonial.  I did a review of it and a Rough Rider electricians knife here.

Thanks Folks I intend to top this up as the various projects progress.

Appreciate the link Charles ... I'd missed that previously ... Interesting touch with the ruler etched on the RR Blade but the Colonial (as you said) is the better knife/value for your $  if the knife is used for its intended purpose every day as a work-place tool.    I've just had a look at the blade thickness on these older Colonials and they 'about' 1/16 inch.

I love the WIP pics!  I did not see that the pliers were Bokers until Dale pointed it out.  The TL29 is one of the most versatile knives as a work place tool and I have been learning on here they they are valuable as project knives as well

I have an old broken walnut rifle stock and I am hoping to utilize the checkering panels for the covers on one of these projects... the size it a pretty good match.

That is a great idea!!!  I have chosen a winter project for Donnie that is replacing an old broken gunstock.  I may steal this idea!

Excellent, Derek !!

.

Not everyone has the ability to so easily transfer ideas & material from one project / situation to another. Many would see only the dissimilar aspect ..and/or.. fail to even consider.

!! . Speaks volumes . !!
.
Please post the result .. I suspect .. it'll be SWEET.

Some more progress today (it is 5.45pm Christmas eve here in Aussie as I write this)

Covers roughly cut out and bolsters partially sanded to shape.

Test fit-up - I think this is going to work!  (even if I do say so myself)

....To Be continued..............

Happy Holidays everyone.

Looking great. The scales are stunners

Mike

!!! .. WOW .. !!!
