Thanks Howard.   I do a better write up on the machete in The General Knife Discussion Forum.  Look for the one titled "AAF Folding Machete".

A brute of a knife, Tobias.  The link you provided went nowhere, that is, it couldn't find the page for me.  Just said "Page not found."

A couple images of my latest Case purchase.  This one dates from 1942.   Case was one of three knife companies who made the Army Air Forces Folding Machete that was found in the B-2 and B-4 Emergency bail out kit for pilots and air crews.

The knife measures around 11.5  inches folded and about 15/5 inches when open. The blade is approximately 10 inches.  This one is rock solid with a good patina.  The blade is extremely tight and the liner lock functions perfectly.  I haven't been this excited about a knife purchase in I don't know how long!   The AAF folding machete was one of the knives on my bucket list.

I wrote more about this knife here:

Unfortunately, I bought this early on when I first started collecting and had NO idea. Case was a respected company and there was no reason to suspect they'd sell a defective product.

Garett Finney was recommended to fix this and he gave me a great quote to replace the handles with abalone and file work the blade. I'll probably do that, even though it'll ruin the collectibility as is.
