@ dead_left_knife_guy...

As far as I know these knives were limited to 600 in each of the 4 variants that were to be produced. But they are still available on Colonial's website so I don't believe they are sold out, yet? Please understand that I do not work for Colonial or know what they plan to do once the initial 600 have been sold. Here is the link for Colonial's Bushcraft Knives...

The only thing that I can tell you for sure, from the benefit of my hands-on experience with both the "Defiant" and the "Nemesis," is that they are both superbly capable of functioning in the capacity for which they were designed ~ as Bushcraft and Survival Knives. They are both great knives that come from a well established Cutlery Company.

That's what I know and that's all that I know. And now you know as much as I know.

Yep, Derek, Colonial is still in business and going strong as well, I might add.

Let me nudge you in the direction of the "Colonial Knife Corp. Group" here at iKnife Collector. Let me give you the link: Colonial Knife Corp. Group And I would also like to point out that Steven Paolantonio is a member here at iKC. A nicer, more generous man, you're likely to never meet.

These two Bushcraft Knives are particularly sweet. The 154 CM steel that was used in both blades is 3/16 thick. That's damn near a quarter of an inch! It's really hard to appreciate the heft of these knives without actually holding one in your hand. The big one, the Defiant, practically begs you to chop something with that huge blade. While the smaller Nemesis feels perfectly balanced and poised to slice up some fresh vegetables or finish dressing out a dinner guest that happened to walk into your snare earlier in the day.

Whatever the chore, whatever the task, these two knives have got you covered in the field. And a feature that I consider an aesthetic bonus on both of these knives are the fantastic angular grinds you'll find along their spines that perfectly crown and punctuate the hollow ground bellies on these beasts. I especially like the long pronounced swage on the Defiant's massive drop point blade.

And, Jeremy. You are more than welcome. I feel like I could sing the praises of these knives for days and still not do them justice. There's just a lot to like with both of these knives. I only wish that the pictures could convey how special these knives really are. Cheers, my friend

Great knives for sure. I have the larger Defiant model and hope to add the Nemesis to my collection as well. I really like the Defiant and can see uses for having both knives. The Nemesis could be very useful for smaller bushcrafting tasks. Thank you for showing them side by side Ron.

You've opened my eyes Ron (And probably my wallet later) I was totally unaware The Colonial Brand was still around  - your bushcrafters are sensational!  Already had a quick look at their web site and I'm heading back there now! From what I have seen a lot of their products would really go well down here in Aussie.

Thanks Jan and John for your comments. These knives were designed by knife maker Abraham Elias for Colonial Knife Corporation and were generously gifted to me by Colonial's owner, Steven Paolantonio. These are both intended as Bushcraft / Survival knives.

John, please allow me to give you the specifications on the Defiant, which is the large one:

  • Overall length: 11 1/8”
  • Blade Rockwell: 59 C
  • Thickness of Blade: 3/16” or .190"
  • Blade material: 154 CM
  • Weight: 8 oz. Knife, 2 oz Sheath, (Total Weight 10 oz)

With its high Saber grind this big boy chops and splits wood with ease. I make and utilize lanyards on all of my knives that permit attachment, such as the one you see in this picture of the Defiant. With its 1/2 lb. heft I feel far more confident with it secured to my wrist with the paracord lanyard cinched down via the large orange bead.

These are both superb knives when they are tasked for various chores around the campsite. Whether it's the larger knife chopping, splitting and stockpiling wood for the campfire. Or its smaller companion, the Nemesis, aiding in the preparation of a meal. These knives would prove to be invaluable tools to help any camper or survivalist tame the harsh elements of nature.

Here are the specs on the smaller Nemesis, taken straight from Colonial's website:

  • Overall length: 8 1/2”
  • Blade Rockwell: 59 C
  • Thickness of Blade: 3/16-inch
  • Blade material: 154 CM
  • Weight: 2 0z.

I can't thank Steve enough for all of the cutlery he has generously gifted so many of us here at iKC. If you haven't looked in on Colonial's website lately, please allow me to share their URL with anyone who might be reading this post: Colonial Knife Corp. They've got a lot of really great knives. And be sure to checkout all of their Bushcraft Knives. The Defiant, like the one in my picture, is on sale now at a very reduced price! 'nuff said. Check it out!
