Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I just killed this spider in my house.  I don't think it is a brown recluse but I was hoping someone might be able to tell for certain whether it is or isn't.  Oh, its body is about 7/16 inch long.

And thanks to anyone who can help me identify it.

Charles .... not a brown recluse.  I lived in Texas for about 7 years and there are plenty of brown recluse spiders throughout the state.  While not an authority on spiders, I do like them!  This one looks like a wolf spider.  So, no worries!

Dennis you didn't say you liked spiders !

He he .. makes me think of my sister.
Grew up on a farm .. very rural .. 4 siblings .. my sister was right in the middle. She's one impressively tuff little girl.

e.g. She'd capture a snake (small adolescent black snake .. garter snake ....), centipedes, spiders, crayfish, etc .. would place them in a glass jar & take to school for science class. Even "freaked out" some of the guys.

She developed a love of all lifeforms .. became a Registered Nurse .. has jumped out of 2 perfectly good airplanes ..... an amazing girl.

Thanks Dennis!  I didn't think it was but just wanted to be sure.

Yes, I do like them!  More fascinating to watch than a cat stalking its prey!

I don't like spiders and we only have little ones , I don't mind snakes but there again none of ours are dangerous .

I like cats though they are cruel at times , but then they are just being cats and can't really be anything else I guess .

All cats are natural born predators.  The larger the cat, the larger the game they go after.  It reminds me of an incident that happened when I was a kid growing up on the farm.  We had a cat that had kittens on the back porch of our farm house.  One day I heard a ruckus on the porch.  When I went to see what was happening I saw a dead rat.  I don't know if the rat attacked the kittens but apparently one of the kittens had killed the rat which was nearly as big as the kitten.  The mother cat didn't arrive on the scene until after I did.

Yeah I don't bother them either...basically leave them alone. Won't kill them in the house (tan long bodied ones upstairs; dk. brown chubby ones in the cellar). Haven't seen "Isabella" in the kitchen for a week now. Wonder where she went?

Nice photography.

I do agree w/ Leo .. pretty sure it's dead.
:)

Yep, it is definitely dead!  I have two women in this house (wife and daughter) who do not do bugs of any kind!  To quote my wife, "It is now a good spider."

The sound you just heard, was a tear hitting the floor!!  Actually, that is my daughter's sentiment exactly!
