I too am a 'Life Member'; also a 'Knife World' Ambassador (Life member) and would like to candid about the 'NKCA'. This organization ceased to be viable many, many years ago. Doubt what I have said? Email me privately and I will explain. There is no…Continue

Is There Still A NKCA?

Started by Ike Mitchell. Last reply by Gus Marsh Dec 2, 2016. 31 Replies

Sounds to me like someone has taken the NKCA money and run.  I have been and I know other NKCA members have been trying to get in touch with this Lisa Sebenick (Davis, Boyles).  To no avail.  I have some possible leads and have called her grandson.…Continue

NKCA 2014/2015 knives

Like several of you, I am still trying to get the youth knives that I ordered and paid for through Pay Pal in April, 2014. We had to order these knives in advance of delivery, so since Pay Pal only gives a limited time to get your money returned, of…Continue

NKCA Members- we had a good productive board meeting last Saturday. Many of the items presented were well recieved and yet, we still have a funding issue remaining before we can implement many of the items. We put a fund raising plan into place so we can move forward on them as soon as possible.

Also, a nominating committee was established for officers and directions for the next term (2012- 2016). Please if you know of anyone interested in serving in an official capactity, please speak with them and confirm their interest and then email me their name and email address if you'd like to recommend them. Send to me at scott@ iknifecollector.com

Thanks!

Very well said

Hey Scott,  Unfortunately I don't have any contract person for the NRA. Like you I felt it would be a perfect fit. Most people I know EDC knives and guns and are members.

WOW! Interesting conversation going here with the last posts.

Luca- it won't ever happen, and honestly, I wouldn't want it to. Our interests here are fairly simple- friends talking knives. The NKCA is a business- albeit a non-profit (or is it a not-for profit?) doesn't matter. Money drives many of the decisions there, not that that is a bad thing.

iKC is pure (sounds hokey, I know). It is collector started and collector driven. It's not perfect...maybe not the deepest knife related content- but it's getting better with every member that joins, like Dale said. I'd love to have a couple full time employees to research and write articles for us, but I intentionally didn't want to make iKC about making money. Just look at KnifeShowcase, for example. As I understand, you have to pay to blog there, among other things. I don't want that. I know if a few NING knife sites already out there- and maybe the NKCA will go that direction....I know it's all I can do to keep up with you guys here- so they'll have to do it without me, that much I know :)

The other sites and forums serve an important function in the knife world. Those that have been up for years and are very established have some really good discussions/content from knowledgable folks. We are relationship focused, more personal, I think, than those forums and our content is getting better and will continue. But either way- it is the members that make iKC what it is, literally.

I certainly have. It's refreshing to be a part of such a broad spectrum of people and knowledge.

I don't always agree with every statement that is made, but I also respect everyone's right to their opinion.

Billy nailed it.

Every single person I know on iKC ... who has become an active productive valued member of this community ... has that in common. What a wonderful learning environment we have here.

Let me pose a question .. has anyone had a personal viewpoint changed .. as a result of being a member of this community ???

I've certainly learned a thing or two .. and what fun I've had  .. 'n friendships I've formed .. along the way !!!!!!

OK, you all have a point that we share, iKC is perfect, so let's not mess with it, and you know I agree whole heartedly as your wiser comments have turned my thinking around. I guess I was just trying to think of what could help that poor old NKCA out. I know we have our elite team of Gary and Scott working on it, so I'm sure they'll be able to restore it to its true purpose.
