Perhaps some of you wiser could give some insight. I realize the First Run Lock Back Trapper Amber Stag is not serialized and only 50 were produced. Yet I notice that on the tube top there is a number. What does this signify? Is it the order in which these knives were produced? If so, then there does exist a serialization, of sorts. What do you think?

I have two. Here is a picture of one of them, and the top of both tubes, purchased btw from different sellers. Notice the 8 and the 1. Perhaps you're right, Ron. It may be a dealer number.

I also just checked my tube, and no number. Now I brought mine from Ryan Daniels directly not from a dealer. Checking the card that came with the knife there is a "date of production", mine being March 22, 2012, I'm pretty sure they didn't make them all in one day so that's kind of a number of sorts. I'm pretty the dealers need to number them for inventory.

Robert, I think you're looking at a later offering. The First Run was Amber Stag, dated February 7, 2012. Gee, am I the only one that got numbered tubes on that First Run? That would really be a coincidence and truly wild. Oh well . . . I appreciate your input.

Thanks for your expertise, Ron. I appreciate it. I looked again at my tubes and the ink seems pretty close to me. But you are probably right. At any rate, I'm happy to have these beautiful knives. Perhaps they numbered just the first 10 . . . hmmm. I'm just kidding :)

LOL, if they only marked then number one would be awesome!!!

Gary,

Just my opinion but it appears to be a dealer number to me.  Sometimes if they are offering "the actual knife shown" they will mark them to be certain they are matching it to the pic when mailing out.

Jan, you and Ron are probably right. Dealer numbers makes more sense. But you know how it is, I saw that number 1, and my mind started to reel :) I've been lucky lately, as you well know, but not THAT lucky. Dealer numbers is right, I'm sure. Moreover, just having one of the first fifty is fine by me.

Then again, I was just thinking (a dangerous thing, I know) that I didn't really get these knives from dealers. Not from Ken or Greg or Frank or Ryan or Courtney . . . just an individual with probably one knife to sell. Ok ok ok, Dealer Numbers. I'm sure you're right.

Thank you, Ron. I appreciate your effort in getting this information. I can rest easy now. Just happy to have the knives.

Ron,

Thanks for getting us the answer.  We appreciate your reaching out for the info

i would agree and say its a dealer number .if any of you know GREG at TSAKNIVES.COM if you order GEC knives through him...lots of times on the cap it will have an additional letter.this letter is used so when you look at a group shot of knives you can choose which you want when thier is no serial,EASY. i also have had dealers remove GEC's  sticker all together and put their own and i have even seen 2 and 3 stickers on same tube.also the lids get decorated with other LETTERS normally. they use letters im guessing because GEC does not use letters in its tang stampings that i know of.  as far as it goes with the COA's ...im pretty sure all 50 pieces for each knife from TVCC so far have matching completion days...i could be wrong.-hope everybody is well!

gary now looking at the pics i can tell they are dealers marks. so you can say ill take number 1 and 8 in a "STAG LINEUP"...when you get lucky enough on a small run to choose which stag you want!.....

Thank you Peter. I think you are correct on all counts.
