Been awhile since I been here, busy I guess, but to answer a question, the knife that I made is a flipper and the one we had made in Japan is opened with a thumb stud.

I have been using both Teflon washers and IKBS bearings but the new models will sport caged bearings.

This is the prototype of the second version of the Side Kick with our patented Xross Bar Lock.

We set out to make the world’s strongest and safest folding knife several years ago and it has refined itself into what you saw. This knife actually is locked twice, once in the blade for a tight fit and then again in the opposite liner for shear brute strength.

Using the IKBS or other ball bearing systems allow for tightening the pivot to eliminate any trace of side play. It feels and acts like a fixed handles knife. I just found some new bearings and will be using them as soon as I finish with the current parts started.

The blade is 1080+ Carbon Vanadium
Handle Micarta,
Spring and lock spring tempered 5160
Liners 304 stainless
Pocket Clip on the other side, spring tempered 1095
Pivot is IKBS ball bearings

All of the Xross Bar knives that I have made so far are finger flippers and snap open with authority and ease. No auto buttons involved. I did however make some of the first Sidekicks with the Ken Onion “Speed Safe” but Kershaw changed their mind, another story.
Price $750.00

Later on this year Triple Aught Design will be offering a version of this knife with CPM154CM for probably $850.00

I have a couple more of these knives now in progress with Damascus blades and one in ATS 34 stainless

Very good looking!  A stout look and feel to it but is it an auto?

Lyle,
That is one sweet creation there! I am assuming you made it?
