WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO SEE IF IKC HELD A KNIFE EVENT??????

Sometimes you go to a knife show, 70 tables of knives to look at people to meet...Great folks to talk knives with

Sometimes you go to knife event, a knife show with things like the cutting challenges and a bit of forging.

If we had the opportunity to plan a knife event what would it be like?  No answer is too small or too large, help me brain storm this out!

If you were going to plan a knife event....what would be the plan, what would you include?

I to believe an Event, that a lot of people could participate. Some what centrally located, so it's not too far for most people. Not in a large city, where us country folks can get lost.

A reunion on line like our Knives Lives Show, might work also.

I personally would like to go in to a show, have a sign in..door prizes...when you enter the room, have all the parts and supply dealers in the front as you enter. then have the company knives set up on the perimeters, the dealers in the middle. I miss people selling knife books, and company logo stuff....you dont see the large banners over the tables anymore like you used too....i also miss those knives set up for DISPLAY only...used to see them alot at shows. too...I did like seeing the mini forge at the Ohio Show that was interesting....they had it set up outside....They used to have contests for display by kids too at the shows, dont see that anymore either. or at least the ones i have been too.

I have never had the opportunity to attend such an event. But, first I would like it to be family oriented, in other words something for everyone in the family. Utility knives for the kitchen, hunting knives for the woods, specialty knives for the collectors. I think having the major companies show up with new ideas and models would be great, perhaps have an area for kids to take part in, like wooden knife kits and leather works. Something else would be to have some authors set up with their books and maybe a conference on collecting, building and refurbishing knives. An auction would be cool, silent or live...Jan could be the auctioneer....of course the give aways, always have to have door prizes, but I think you could get carried away with that. One thing more, how about a famous actor who is instantly recognizable with the knife they used in a movie....Rambo....Freddie Kruger...you know....that would draw folks out of the wood works...

i would like to see a dinner with lots of knives, lots of food and lots of ikc family.thats what we all about, its not a hobby its a life style.its where friendship and knives go hand in hand.without one the other doesnt matter really,it sharing our passion for for what what we love.it was given to us and it should be given to another.

I'd like to see an assortment of knives and themes. I'd also like to see some of it greared toward kids and some geared toward people who may be brand new to knives and want information and questions answered through demos on stage. Maybe some hand forging and grinding. Some sharpening, and something geared towards the ladies too. If they get involved it would be easier for most guys to go to knife shows.  LOL

Jeremy,

Our Case dealer here has something great for the kids.  He has an eagle scout come do a knife safety course (lasts about 20 mins) and every kid that registers and completes the course gets a small knife

I like the ideas!  Keep them coming
