The knives look good Dennis. I do feel your pain on quality of a new knife not being up to what we feel should be a "new" standard. It looks like you have been able to successfully make them look good though. But I agree, you should not be expected to do that work on a new knife. If these rubs, scuffs, and scratches seem to be the normal level of their new quality standards, I can easily see where you would be seriously reconsidering future investments with the company.

If I were in your position, and you are of the decision that you cannot continue to support this level (of lack thereof) of quality, I would probably reach out to Case and try to speak with some in Customer Service and perhaps Quality Assurance. There is a chance (albeit small) that they may try to do something in an attempt to appease you. If they do not see that something is wrong, then be prepared to sever the ties that keep you coming back and purchasing more. That very well could be painful for you in the short term, but as you have observed, there really is no excuse for the slipshod quality standard at that price level. You have an example of a higher fit and finish quality standard at a lower price point. Hopefully others will make a similar decision, and the company should see an impact to their bottom line. Will it be enough to change anything? I cannot say. But there is a point where they cannot continue to provide sub-standard products at quality product prices. That is all part of a capitalistic system. I just hate to see you brought to this point.

I'm over it Kevin. This has been the norm for these Case knives for some time now. Too bad. It didn't bother me much in the past as I enjoyed sharpening and maintaining my knives. But am at the point in life where my hands don't work as well as they used to and I seem to have less and less free time. Contacting Case is something I wouldn't do ... as I need nothing from them, nor do I think it will have any impact. As I said, I believe the problem is too few workers and too many knives being produced. Anyway, will continue to enjoy the collection of seahorses I have and .... who knows, despite what I said, a new one just might wander into the stable!

They do look amazing now Dennis. I too agree that the rub, burrs and bolsters shouldn't come out of the factory like that. It's sad to see.

I know what I said ... but this one just had to be added to the collection. This is a one of a kind 2024 lime green barn board jigged seahorse. However, making it a one of a kind are the hand firing of the covers and the engraved bolsters by Don Rodgers. Both give this seahorse a whole different look. PS .... yes, I did have to resharpen the blades to get rid of the dang burrs!!!

And to think .... I thought the 2024 lime green covers were hideous, until I saw them done up like this!!! Gives a whole different look.

That's absolutely awesome. Not really a fan of the standard line green, but those simply stand out when pared with the bolsters.

I'll tell you ... I did crude mock-up of the knife with variations of the untouched lime green covers (using images I found online) and, I must say, I would have passed on this knife .... even with the gorgeous bolsters. But the combination of the fired lime green bone AND the scrolled bolsters was a definite winner.

Haven't been taking many pics lately, but finally got around to taking some of new additions to the SHW collection that I've had sitting around here for quite some time. Both were customized by Wild Horse Customs.

First is a 2024 release customized with yellow spiny oyster and abalone scales.
