I agree 100% with the analogy. I like to tell people that the reason there are so many different patterns and brands of knives is that EVERYBODY has different tastes! VIVE LE DIFFERENCE!

I have been into knives sense i was very young.
My first knives were ones that were given to me,but as i got older and could afford to by my own knives i made choices based on many factors. early years price was often the major factor.
Now its more manufacturer reputation for quality and personal preference.

PS
heare the tat!

I would agree Steve, My motto: "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say nothing at all" That being said a person can always find something good to say if asked! My favorite knives are Trapper's and Muskrat's and I really like Older Schrades and prefer "Old Timer's" and "Uncle Henry's" but I have quit a few different brands, but IMHO there is not a crappy knife. Some are not made as well as others but IMO they all serve a purpose. I look at someones knife and always find something good…

If I see a safety issue then I would for sure bring it up or if its a newer knife that I have read about safety issues I would send them a copy of it. Speaking of Tattoo's I'm Chickasaw/Choctaw Indian and I'm planning getting one or two. The first one would be a Tribal headband with two Red Eagle Feathers hanging down my shoulder area and in each feather putting my grandmothers name and the other my grandfathers name(Grandpa is Choctaw - Grandma is Chickasaw Indian) and the other shoulder area I want a Case 5 Blade Beast Trapper Knife with Burnt Stag Handles and have my Grandkids name's placed in each open blade. I'm very proud of my grandkids and proud of my Indian Heritage. totaly agree. totaly agree. I collect what I like and that pretty much is anything thats sharp. Autos are my faverite. And you catch quite a few [comments] when you tell people . Low end knife's can be quite kool to. Some are knockoffs others are just plain weird. But like a tattoo, If I like it thats all that matters.

I would go for an old tang stamp.... like Double Duck knives or the "half moon" style Schrade Cut. Co. something that is no longer used.

There are some really tang stamps out there from companies that may have only existed a very short time or early stamps from companies that still exist but are not used anymore... OH!!! the Boker tree would be cool.
