This is definitely a great set, Elbin. Just make sure to take good care of it. Some Rem Oil or Ren Wax for the knife and buckle, and don't forget to maintain the case too. I would imagine that will be worth a buck or two. I am going to go ahead and relocate this thread out of Bill's post now, and put it in its own.

Glad I could help, Elbin!

Paul Chen Nickel Damascus Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Dagger Knife & Belt Buckle No. 642 of 1000

Here on offer is a beautiful hand made Paul Chen Nickel Damascus Fairbairn-Sykes Dagger Knife and Damascus Belt Buckle set.

Paul Chen created 1000 of these knives in 1998 for distribution through C.A.S. IBERIA in Sale Creek, Tennessee and this set is number 642 of 1000, and 642 is stamped on the ricasso of the dagger and the back of the buckle.

This set is housed in a varnished solid light oak presentation case that is lined with red velvet.
The knife is a hand made copy of the original Fairbairn-Sykes British Commando dagger. It is 12" (30.5cm) in overall length with a 7" (17.8cm) blued and hand-forged nickel Damascus steel blade, the delicate edges of which are exceptionally sharp.

The colours in this Nickel Damascus creation are truly exceptional including a silver light brown, maroon and black.

The handle is made of stacked leather that is hand finished to a smooth texture. There is a slight rub where it has rested in the case.

The guard and pommel are also made of blued nickel Damascus and the guard is hand engraved with beautiful scrollwork.

A matching hand-forged Damascus belt buckle has the Fairbairn-Sykes initials FS, inset in gold. The only flaw in this set was some oxidation on the top tip of the ‘S’ initial, which has been removed.

I think originally a separate leather scabbard was on offer with these sets, in a separate box, but this set does not include one.

Paul Chen grew up in Taiwan where, as a young man, he developed a fascination for swords and knives and since he was unable to afford antique and custom-made pieces, he became a custom maker enjoying success in both Asia and the United States. In 1991 Paul decided to become a full-time manufacturer and moved to Dalian, the “Steel City” of northern China, where he knew that he could find talented artisans capable of being trained as first-class sword and knife makers. Early endeavours largely took the form of making knives and components for major knife companies, but by 1993 the company was ready to start trading under its own banner and Dalian Hanwei Metal Co. Ltd. (Hanwei) was formed.

Today Paul's Samurai swords are regarded as state of the art. This dagger is a very rare opportunity to own a limited production Paul Chen original.
These sets have been long discontinued and are a rare find nowadays

The Dagger is 12” (30.5cm) long, 5” with a 7” (17.8cm) blade.

The oval Belt Buckle is 3” (7.5cm) wide and 1.9” (4.9cm) high.

The whole set in the case weighs 1Kg.

"Paul Chen Damascus Fairbairn-Sykes dagger (w/sheath) & Damascus Buckle Set in nice red velvet-lined wooden box. This knife was a limited edition damascus model made back in the mid-to-late 90's by Paul Chen. These were limited to 1000 numbered pieces and this one is tang-stamped with #765. The damascus belt buckle is also #765. These sets have been long-discontinued and are a rare find nowadays."
