While in Atlanta, we got together with the couple from TX, the GEC folks from PA and off we went to the Varsity.  

Originally named "The Yellow Jacket,' The Varsity was established in 1928 at the corner of Luckie Street and Hemphill Avenue in Midtown Atlanta. The main location is responsible for more retail sales of Coca-Cola, on an annual basis than any other single location in the world, a record which has stood for many years. Over the years The Varsity has become synonymous in Atlanta's folklore with a clever and unorthodox catchphrase. Originated by frazzled cashiers as a way to keep the lines moving, the blunt and abbreviated greeting "What'll ya have?" caught on with both staff and public and eventually became the restaurant's unofficial slogan. Today it appears on takeout boxes and cups as well as Varsity memorabilia and is the required greeting to all customers.
It's the Worlds Largest Drive-In
The Downtown Atlanta location is on more than two acres and can accommodate 600 cars and over 800 people inside. On days when the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets are playing a home game, over 30,000 people visit The Varsity.

Two miles of hot dogs, a ton of onions, 2500 pounds of potatoes, 5000 fried pies and 300 gallons of chili are made from scratch daily.

The best chili cheese dogs and onion rings!!!

I think it would be great to see reciepes from people from all over the world, not the most special dish but an everyday meal that is cooked regularly. We could do it in 3 or 4 catagories, like one in "beef",  "pork", "poltry", and in vegatables. It could be, like what's for supper tonight. We all live in different places around the world, with alot of different ways to cook the same meat, fish and vegies. Let's get a great IKC Reciepe Book going.

While on vacation we always eat at this little place called "Huck Fins Catfish House..

There you are always seated by friendly people, a person playing musical instruments in the background .

The food is always started off with what they call Vittles  consisting of  coleslaw,hush puppies,dill pickles,onion slices and a bowl of beans.

From there on your on your own.....house cooked fresh catfish is abundant...your drinks are of course served in mason jars...lol

The restaurant walls are covered with flour sacks and lots of antique farming things so there is no dull walls ...hard wood floors... Great Southern Hospitality...

If your ever in Pigeon forge ....look it up.....we do on every visit.....

Stay dry, looks like we are all in the same rain belt going on.  I like the recipe idea, lets start it right here.  JJ may be able to get us some from the diner!

Dat's what I'm talking about...lol...When I make homemade hams I make three at a time. It's about the same amount of trouble to make one as three. I pickle them for three days in curring salt and smoke them for 10 to 12 ours. You better bet thier good. Hey I was thinking about starting a little discussion in here, for everyone to post a good reciepe. What do ya'll think?

I am willing to bet they are AWESOME home made hams.  YUMMY!

With just the two of us at home now, I usually buy the spiral sliced and freeze it meal size.  I love Ham and Grits!
