I'm the new kid on the block, so I am stumbling in learning how your page works and how to get around on it. Appreciate your help when I err in my ways. I start with a question and needing help. I have 6 knives of what I believe are of the "CLASSIC" series. I like the distinctive looks of these knives, wood handles and brass bolsters and liners. So I am seeking information of the complete family of this series, apparently some made in mid-60's till mid-90's I have a 1002, 1004, 1058,…

I thought this was odd, so I got online and did some image searches.

All of the 1173s I found have the badge positioned so that it's readable, or "right-side-up," when the knife is open, and on it's spine.

Mine is the opposite. Upside down.

> Here's pics of my knife, you can see here: You can see that if you laid the knife down on its spine, the badge is upside down.

>Here's another shot:

Everything about the knife is in good order. It doesn't seems to have be repaired, or re-scaled. Looks completely stock.

I contacted the seller, not to complain, because I'm very happy with the knife and seller, but to find out additional info about the badge. They say it's an original knife. They said they didn't notice it, but yes, it is upside down compared to their other Ka-Bar stock. They then offered to take it back and give me another.

So I'm throwing a question out to the Ka-Bar experts out there.

Is this knife a "factory, one-off," mistake, with an upside down badge? I bought it to carry, but should I keep it in a box instead? Is it rare? And if so, is that rarity meaningful to collectors?

What say you?

An uncle gave this KA-BAR to my Dad in 1945. Dad carried it daily until about 2000, and he gave it to me in 2003 or 2004. I know nothing about it. Is it rare/common? Is it valuable/cheap? (I don't want to sell it because it was Dad's, and I will pass it on some day.)

Any information/insight will be appreciated.

Just wanted to share this on the Light Hearted Day. I had to chase this huge Tom Turkey away from our basement window three times today. He must see his reflection in it and has been fighting with the window most of the afternoon. After I put the run on him I looked out in the driveway and he was pecking/Fighting with my truck bumper! I went out and stood 10 feet from the crazy bird and threatened to Kabar his head off.he ignored me! This is not a tame bird! He was so wrapped up in fighting…

Maybe it's just me but I see a bunch of WWII knives being sold by a guy in Michagan without sheaths. How can it be that every knife has no sheath?! Now I see a different seller from relatively the same area selling just WWII sheaths for inflated prices. I may be way off the mark on this but it appears they are trying to squeeze every dime out of these War Treasures by separating them. It makes me feel sick! I think it should be illegal, and worse. I'm I the only one who noticed this? Sorry for…

Do any of you Kabar scholars know how many of these Camillus made? It's the oldest design and false edge lengths seem to vary to the point of confusing the collector. Maybe these are more rare than the originals?
