Gonna have a little fun- and if anyone here gets PO'd at me, well, I'm sorry. But this will be fun and keep you on your toes.
Starting today, I'm starting a series called The Name Game. Yeap, I'm going to post a picture of a character from the knife industry or cutlery history and your job is to guess who it is. I'll provide a little clue too. Prizes?…

Will DA Vance Arrest Stephen Colbert for Switchblade Possession?
Given New York District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr.'s campaign to shakedown and prosecute those selling or possessing so-called "illegal knives" (locking one-handed and assisted openers) in New… Continue

Due to contraints on my schedule I don't get to many knife shows during the year, but this weekend so far my schedule is working out to go.
When I first started collecting knives, I just didn't get it. No, I didn't get knife shows- not at all.
Honestly, I just thought they were for a bunch of old timers who traded knives among themselves.
But, I gave them a try- and got…

Our lives are filled with a deluge of thoughts and image impressions. Our memories are, to put it in computer terms, like files on our hard drive. All day, every day, our internal video camera is recording everything our senses encounter. Just think of the shear amount of data our brains record on a daily basis and many studies conclude the brain retains this information for our lifetime.
And while it is interesting to ponder all that, I'm just an old knife guy who can't…

One of the all time favorite interviews I have had the opportunity to conduct was with legendary knifemaker Tony Bose. Tony is so easy to talk with and his colorful way of expressing himself made it a true pleasure.
I hope you will take some time to listen in on his interview. Tony tells us why he started making knives, in addition to candid advice for aspiring knife makers. He also provides an insider’s perspective on the custom knife market and today’s…

We all pass through significant events in life-
Rites of Passage, they are called, by virtue of simply being alive. Examples include, a first kiss, turning 16, graduating from high school, getting married, having a child, the death of a parent, as well as our own eventual death (obviously, that's the last one), these are some of the passageways we must pass through as we travel…

My blood is boiling. This whole thing about the restricting of "permitted knives" is really making me mad now.
I
recently posted over at CutleryNewsJournal about what will happen if the will of the people
is to restrict knives- I'm talking about the majority of Americans- to the point Congress doesn't fight this left-wing attack on our rights.
Well, now, the…

Thank goodness we have professional folks on the watch for threats to our everyday knife rights. There is a new proposed rule from the U S Custom Agency attempting to redefine many of our EDCs as illegal.
Please take a minute to listen to this important message from David Kowalski, the Communications Coordinator of the American Knife and Tool…

iKC made the news! I'm talking getting mentioned in a traditional offline knife publication. Yes Sir (figure of speech, there Ladies), we sure did....having
Mark Zalesky, a friend and fellow iKC member as the editor, doesn't hurt either.
Mark was kind enough to plug our community in the current edition of
Knife World. I must say, I have been a subscriber for many years and…

OK, fellow iKC community members, we need to reach out to a knife guy we want here.
I posted the story in this edition of Cutlery News Journal, so I won't reprint it here, other than to say, I ran on a very well respected knife guy out in the blogosphere, who needs to be posting his blogs here, where the knife collectors are.
Check out the story and then click over…

Don't you just love all the different types of knives folks own? All you have to do is look around our community to see it is like Baskin Robbins Ice Cream flavors.
Each person collects what they like and I think you can tell a lot about the person by the knife he (or she) owns, just like someone's hands tell you a lot about that person.
I won't try to detail all the different personalities and preferences here in our community, but I do find it very interesting.…

Do you feel that a knife is like a tattoo?" While the topic might be viewed a little "different" for a "knife…

A BLOGGING KNIFE COMMUNITY- HOW COOL IS THAT?!
A few years ago, when I started blogging at
The News at ElephantToenails.com, I looked far and wide to find other folks blogging on knife topics. Not! Then over the last two years, I was able to find one about every 6 months- what's that about 4 or 5 now.
Almost every knife blog I was able to find was strictly a knife review. No interesting commentary, no…
