Well here we go again. Guy shot (killed) his wife and injured his mother-in-law because the wife was going to get a permanent restraining order against him. Again in the suburbs - nice area.

So the paper published the recent domestic violence stats: gun, knife, strangulation. Yep knives are up there.

Doug,

We played cowboy and indians, aimed our toy guns at each other. Played war and flung "grenades" at each other but we knew it was a game. Your right, we learned respect early and knew accountability meant you have to use your own pocket knife to cut a switch LOL

I warn against even hinting at the entertainment kids are exposed to as a source for blame. I grew up watching war movies and horror movies. I listened to heavy metal music. I didn't grow up to be a psychopathic killer. The problem is a society that doesn't teach respect and accountability.

There are several groups like the NRA that are there for knife rights. Get involved as much as you can with any and all of them. Write letters, emails to politicians. Write emails to local newspapers about knife clubs your involved with and let people know that regular sane folks carry and use knives everyday as tools.

I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I remember the conversations from about 10 years ago on another knife forum- A well known knifemaker told of all his legal troubles when they actually tried to kick him and his business out of town for making "dangerous weapons" He made fantasy knives and swords that sold for over $1000 apiece-Can you say ill-informed hysteria ?? His legal defense was "Who uses a $1000+ knife or sword to commit a violent crime?? After great expense in legal fees, etc.…

Fact is, people have been killing people for a lotta years, and it ain't gonna stop anytime soon.

Fact is, sensationalism sells news, and the news media thrives, (and makes money) from all of it.

Support the Knife Rights organization and become a member.......today! They do make a difference.

Folks don't realize that banning knives doesn't stop assaults with "edged weapons."

Michael,

What you say is very true, regrettably. I dont know when violence became an everyday occurrence in young lives but life itself does not seem to hold the same value these days.

As for them going after the collectors, it began a long time ago with the switchblade laws, then the descriptions of lengths. It is the reason I keep saying we need to help the Knife Rights and the ATKI. These are the folks fighting to keep our rights, and it gets harder and harder everyday
