THANKS LEFTY, I WILL MOVE FORWARD ON THAT INFO. IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT MAY BE FRENCH AS WELL, JUST BY THE NAME AND THE PEAR. ANYONE WHO IS INTEREST GO AHEAD AND MAKE AN OFFER. IT IS DEFINITELY A CARVER, NO MAJOR RESHAPING HAS OCCURRED. AS WELL I HAVE ANOTHER INTERESTING PIECE FOR SALE. THIS ONE IS MADE BY WILLIAM BECKET & CO. I DATE IT IN THE LATER PART OF THE 1800'S, IT HAS THE REAL DEAL STAG HANDLE WITH A NICELY SHAPED BLADE--ALL IN GREAT SHAPE. THE SHEATH LOOKS TO BE A LATER…

Thanks for adding the photos AND the comments! I've been looking around online a bit but I haven't been able to find anything.<br />
<br />
From your photos, I'm able to say one thing for certain: this is a French or French-style knife. Without a better shot of the blade, I can't tell if it's a carving knife or a chef's knife that has been sharpened many, many times & ground down in the process. But that handle is definitely in the French style.<br />

Because of the French style, I am wondering if "Jacton"…

Because of the French style, I am wondering if "Jacton" is really "j'Acton", as in, somehow related to manufacture in a place named Acton (loosely translated).<br />
<br />
There are towns named Acton in both Quebec and Ontario, Canada, & there's a fastener company (nuts, bolts, etc.) named Acton in L'Horme, France.<br />
<br />
I'm speculating here, but from the script on the knife, & the stylized pear, I'm guessing it was made in the 1950's or 1960's. By the way, "pear" in French is "poire", & "knife" is "couteau".<br />
<br />
I hope this helps! And I have to say that I really like that pear logo. HI, JJ AND DEAD LEFT GUY!!! H…tag:iknifecollector.com,2020-03-05:3181080:Comment:16225922020-03-05T02:47:58.771ZDENNIS NARDIhttps://iknifecollector.com/profile/DENNISNARDI

<p>Dennis, a photo, showing the tang stamp, and any other printing, would certainly be helpful. </p>
