A Review, Case Magenta Bone Peanut with Scissors.

I'm going to keep this short. I'm assume everyone in the group knows a thing or two about Case knives and maybe even own a peanut or two. Over all fit and finish, and the quality of the build, for the most part is exactly what you expect in a Case knife.

That said, I'm only going to talk about the difference.

1) The center liner is cut away, presumably to allow for the extra width of the scissors. I found this a bit disappointing. I assume it will eventually lead to blade rub, something i normally don't have to worry about in Peanuts. My assumption was prophetic, in that the first time i wnet to close the scissors the flimsy spring didn't line up and the scissors failed to close beacuse they got hung up on the clip blade! No more letting the scissor snapped closed. You need to carefully close them.

2) The Scissors are less than adequate in cutting just about anything. . If all you plan on doing is cutting the occasional piece of typing paper, they will be fine. But is if plan on using them for a variety of chores and differing weights of paper (either lighter or heavier) the scissors will disappoint. Compared to the scissors in a $12 Victorinox Classic SD, these scissors are totally and utterly inadequate

Very disappointing. Case needs to go back the drawing board and make a better pair of scissors for these and their other folders with scissors. They are totally inadequate for anything other than display.

Very upset. I was looking forward to receiving this knife for a long, long time.

Thank you Tobias for the review. The knives look nice and I guess that is the frustrating part because you would expect function to follow.

That is disappointing!

I have been looking at these for a friend that likes his knives small and could always use a small pair of scissors for fishing line and such. Thanks for the review it was very helpful in making up my mind

Jan, Just tried the scissors on six pound test line. Epic fail! The tolerance of the blades is such that the fishing line slipped between the wobbly blades.

I then tried the same with my $7 Marbles Fly Fisher knife. It the 6 pound line repeated without fail. Utterly frustrating. The scisors on my small case pen knife are only marginally better than those on the Peanut so I really don't think these are a lemon. I really think the scissor are just bad.

Funny, but I've found scissors on my Leathermans pretty poor, especially on my "Juice" Leathermans. Will cut some card or heavy paper, but won't cut monofilament and many other things. What I did was take a punch and tap the hinge pin and tightened them right up. Yeah I know, they are scissors and should act like scissors, but I guess some can do scissors and some can't! LOL!

I picked up a SOG Crosscut multitool and the scissors were terrable.

My daughter never carried a knife. I asked her why. She said she was always losing things and she was afraid she would lose a good knife. So I bought her one of these. She put it on her key ring and loves it. I think she uses it mostly to cut off price tags. Then there is the big bad biker at work who carries one, He said it great for cleaning and trimming his fingernails.

Better off with a Swiss Army Midnite Manager. Better scissors, plus you get a pressurized ink pen,nail file, small screwdriver key-chain flashlight and bottle opener small Phillips screwdriver at half the price of this knife. Much better for trimming your fingernails Or even go cheaper with the Victorinox Calssic SD. I cannot in good faith recommend the scissors that come on the Case knives. They are no way near as good as those on Victorinox Swiss Army Knife or numeorus other Swiss Army knok-offs I've compared them too.
