Authorities say the case of a 5-year-old Greene County boy stabbing three people with an "edged weapon" is now being treated as a domestic dispute.

Deputies were called to a mobile home park on Shady Grove Road in Ruckersville around 3:25 p.m. Monday for a reported stabbing. Neighbors say it stemmed from an argument over a juice box, but authorities have not confirmed that detail.

"I would see him riding his bike and everything. He seems like a happy-go-lucky little dude. No problems. He was a good dude," said neighbor Nikoma Collins.

Sheriff Smith says the victims, two juveniles and one adult, were all taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Their names have not been released, and an update on their conditions has not been provided.

Commenting on the incident, Sheriff Smith said, "I've heard of juveniles throwing temper tantrums, but I've never heard of anything like this before." At least one victim is related to the child, but Smith would not reveal the nature of that relationship.

The sheriff says the boy is in police custody for evaluation. Because of his status as a juvenile, the child's name will not be released.

The Greene County Sheriff's Office has not indicated whether charges will be filed against the child.

Of course there are news stories like this virtually everyday, usually involving older people, intoxicated or drugged people two consenting adults, you know the stories.

This "person" is 5 years old.  This incident risks bringing in knife criticism, more laws.
