Knives been made in Sheffield, England for centuries. At one time not so long ago the whole town was virtually devoted to steel and cutlery making. Now just a few of the old craftsmen who still make knives in the traditional ways are left. Trevor Ablett and Reg Cooper still soldier on and between them produce a range of pocket knives with traditional blade types. Trevor has been in the trade for I suppose fifty years and you can can see some of his knives on http://www.sheffield-gb.com

Hello
Reg makes the bowie knives but his output is very low as he is nearly 80 now. The output of Reg and Trevor is decreasing but Bowie knifes like the one above are made by John Maleham. I have some on the web site http://www.sheffield-gb.com
I am trying to buy vintage examples of Sheffield folding knives but they are hard to come by except for the fruit knives

Trevor Ablett died 2 years ago, A very huge loss for the Little Mester knife makers, I have been a fan of his knives for years and own quite a few!
I think most if not all remaining knives have sold out, But if you can get one or eBay far and few between, You will love the handmade quality!

Tony,
Thank you. I did not know he had passed. I also am a fan of his work and have a number of them in the safe. The quality is spectacular and each one is a custom work.
