Scrimshaw/Engraving and Filework on knives

Showcasing scrimshaw art on knives. also welcoming discussion on scrimshaw tools and techniques.

This is not on a knife but is on mammoth ivory. One day soon I hope to find the time to do a scrim on a HHH Knife.

What are you using to do this work? it looks like some kind of power assisted tool, which seems to be getting away from you. I do my work with a simple scribe. Two different sizes which I sharpen on a 2000 grit diamond stone.

There is a good plastic which polishes like ivory which is great to practice on. Knife makers use it for handles much of the time. Also, ivory micarta works OK. I can send you a sample if you'd like. Just email me your address.

yep its a bit crude in comparison to your work. still trying to get it down. Thanks for the heads up on the scribs.
