STATES DECRIMINALIZING SWITCHBLADES

I've collected auto's since I was 12 and scored a Super Automatic at a flea market. Just over a year ago, Governor Rick Perry decriminalized switchblades and butterfly knives here in Texas. Carrying my precious auto's everyday has been as awesome as I ever imagined. I want to know how others feel about the right to carry auto's and what the current status is in their states?

Sept. 1, 2015: Today is the effective date for Knife Rights' signature Knife Law Preemption bill in Texas. Several Texas cities will see their restrictive knife laws voided today. The new law invalidates all municipal and county knife ordinances more restrictive than state law, creating uniform knife laws throughout the Lone Star State. The new law also ensues that Knife Rights' repeal of the state's ban on switchblade (automatic) knives that was passed in 2013 will now have effect throughout the state. - See more at: http://kniferights.org/#sthash.tpK9PEtp.IIb5dBsI.dpuf

Congratulations! I was happy to hear about the law changing in Texas. The laws against switchblades are changing in many states. I'm from Wisconsin and the bill to repeal the switchblade law here has passed the house and is now in the state senate. I'm contacting state representatives trying to gain support.I've loved these knives since I was 8 years old and it's time to get rid of these antiquated, useless laws! Let's do all we can to keep the ball rolling!!

As I look through the states that Knife Rights has been working with on the preemption law, I notice they are hitting the states that have a plethora of different laws in the states first.  Alabama will come!

Switchblades are legal in Alabama.  In fact the only thing illegal in Alabama is a concealed Bowie knife.  However some local jurisdictions may have ordinances against switchblades.  I wish Alabama had a knife preemption law.
