National Knife Collector Association- Local Chapter

The local chapter of the National Knife Collectors Association. Our little place to discuss the needs of knife collectors and for feedback and ideas for this important knife organization.

To all the grandparents

Hi everyone,

This week my three youngest angels are here visiting.  I have also been following the renewal discussion pretty closely.  As I have been looking at the membership benefits I noticed that members can join up a Jr. member for only $5.00.

So to all the grandparents out there this is my challange.  I am not only renewing my family membership I am going to send $5.00 for my 3 yr old grandson.

Scott, If we can get this turned around I commit to joining up each of them on thier third birthdays.

Come on Papa and Nanna, Gramps and Grannies, what ever we are called...Lets get this organization on its feet and give our grandchildren a tradition to be proud of.

Jan

    John,

Thank you.  For being a collector that cares.  For sharing this hobby with your grandchildren and for supporting NKCA.  And your right sometimes we have to ask the mommies and daddys

Hi Jan thanks for adding this. The NKCA has 80 youth members and would welcome more at this time .The board member that was in charge of our youth program left .  We would love some input to help the youth program and need some one to take over this and work with the board . I would lke to see an  education  program for our youth to make it a fun & safe hobby .Thanks Gary

    Gary,

I only wish I had the time to be able to do this.  I can tell you that we have a friend (Paul Harvey) that has a knife show at his hardware store every year.  When he does, he has a local Eagle Scout that comes and does a knife safety course.  I would think we could incorporate this at most shows that NKCA has a presence at.  It is a 15 minute course and we could give each child a certificate saying they attended.  I could get the course information from them for the presentation part and the certificate can just be photo shopped at only the cost of printing.  The kids enjoy it, and it sparks an interest.
