A group for those who love thier scandi grind knives, and Nordic knives.
I was given this knife by a former female employee about 15 years ago along with a Kinfolks Flame
Edge Hunter and both a Kinfolks and a Cattaraugus WW II military isssue knife which might suggest
the general vintage. She had inherited all 4 from a bachelor uncle who was somewhat of a world
traveler. She gave all 4 to me as she had no use for them, and knowing my love of knives knew that
I would treasure them.I have been stumped on the vintage of this Lisaaki Jarvenpaa Oy as the only
markings I can find are the company name and what I guess translates to made in Finland etched
on the blade. As the company has been in business for 100+ years and I don't speak Fininsh I am
at a loss. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW, knfe measures 8 " overall with a
4" blade.

I cant help on the daye, but I see old horseheads at the antique gun shows often, usually very overpriced. I looked at one recently that I could not convince the seller that it was from Finland. He was sure it was from Turkey because of the rinosoris on tbe handle, funny and true.

John, try going to Kellam knives website. They selll vintage puukko and have for sale and sold a bunch of horse heads. They dont date them but you can see the changes in horse detail, it gets simpler as time goes by. The handle material is also a clue. Maybe if you send them a picture they could help.
