The local chapter of the National Knife Collectors Association. Our little place to discuss the needs of knife collectors and for feedback and ideas for this important knife organization.
I have come into possession of some of the NKCA club knives I need to sell. Does anyone have a list of the knives and their values. These knives are from the estate of the late Lee Hambleton. If you have a list please email me at shuks@swbell.net. Thanks
I know that a lot of the upgrades members have been asking for take money and that is something we are trying to stretch (just like we do in or own homes). If I could make a simple suggestion that will only take a few moments of time? On the NKCA website when you click on events, it really should show what events the NKCA is participating in. Thanks for all you are doing guys
While in Kosovo as a UN Police Officer, I came in contact with a Ukrainian Major in the Ukrainian Police. He traded me an auto single bladed knife which was made in a Ukrainian prison by a prisoner. This seems very strange to us here in the USA but this is common in the Ukraine and my bet Russia too. The Major explained the prisoners make the knives and trade them to the guards for cigarettes which they use for bartering within the social society of the prisoners. The act of designing and making the knives gives the prisoners something to do and a way to gain financial stability within the prison population. The guards then in turn sell the knives for a large profit.
The knife pictured is the one I traded for with the Major. I had him sign a letter of authenticity on UN letterhead. The knife is light and functions perfectly. I believe it is made of some form of stainless steel. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Thanks Stephen. I was blessed to be able to go to Kosovo and help develop their police from the ground up. Now ten years later they still have a long way to go but I believe they can do this.
I guess I could. I would have to contact the Ukrainian Federal Police and see where he is stationed now or if he is retired where he is living. Many of these officers from other countries applied and received jobs with the United Nations Security.
My supervisor in Kosovo (Kosova) who was from Argentina went to work in Africa for the United Nations in Security. He had a total of four years of experience as a police officer in Argentina in the riot squad. Politics are ten times worse in the UN than anything you and I have experienced. It was a case of supervising my supervisor which was a tricky mine field.
Believe it or not I am not always the most politically correct person. Sometimes the choices made in leadership, around the world and at home baffle me. Just thought it would be nice for him to see the responses from the knife world
Received a newsletter from the NKCA and wanted to pass this along. This is the future of the the NKCA. If you know of anyone, please...follow the information to let someone know
Absolutely! Gary has done a magnificent job, very many steps were made this past year to insure this group would survive and thrive going forward. I understand a new president has been chosen. Congrats to Lisa. I will put more on about her and her time with NKCA in a few days.
We are still in the process of finalizing our 2012 knife shipments. Hopefully, all knives will be out by the end of next week.
Soon we will be accepting orders for the 2013 Club and Youth knives. Some members waited too late to order their 2012 knives and found that we were sold out by the time their orders were placed. We will keep you posted by email and also by snail-mail once we begin accepting orders.
COMING SOON...
We will have a very limited offer coming to you soon, so keep your eyes open for our next email...
If you have not paid your dues for 2012, please do so as soon as possible. We are nearing the end of the year and would appreciate you making a donation so we can meet our 2012 budget.
