Oh, don't forget Valentines day! You may have to fight the dogs for sleepin' space!
I do think that it was pretty special that Mr. Tony Bose did this with the raffle and helping to support the NKCA! The craftsmanship and quality he puts into everything takes time, and time is money!
OMG, guess I forgot to join, Think I did it now. Looks like a good time to join.
Valentines day, Man you gots to buy that candy way ahead. Had mine hid now for going on a month, Just in case I forget. Don't like sleeping with the dogs
Lisa is traveling to the AR show today but did send out an email regarding the winner of the Knife opener. Congrats to Juan
Wow…!!!! I have never won a raffle in my whole life…!! Great news, Lisa, and great to hear from you. I’m not 100% certain I’ll make it to the show this year so please send it to: Juan Mendez
Hi Everyone, I am helping Jan with making the new NKCA website, and I need some help finding nice photos of some of the Club knives, and Commemorative knives. If anyone is interested in helping with this project, and willing to let me use a photo of their knife (knives), please let me know. I have a list of the knives I still am trying to find nice pictures of. Thanks.
All I have is the Great Easterns, probably won't help you out. Report on the gun and knive show in Valpariso Indiana, too many sore heads. And lots of china
Hi Charles, I don't have the GEC made NKCA club knives yet, 2008 and 2012 I believe. If you don't mind, could you take a nice picture from straight above with all blades open. I am going to delete the background so it doesn't matter what they are sitting on. Also, try to minimize camera flash reflection, and try to get blade etching/tang to show. Thanks so much for your help.
carl I have the 2006 Great easterns, Think I have a set of the suposadly first ram horn with end cap and without, same number, think they came out in 2007 if I remember right, have to go look at them and tell you the number
Our club knife for 2013 is the popular Buck model 345 single blade liner lock, OUR FIRST EVER Easy-Opener and is part of the Buck Vantage series. With dual stainless steel liners, reversible, deep pocket, tip-up carry clip, this knife is perfect for most every day tasks.
The blade is Buck's popular drop point, having the 420 HC steel, measuring 3 1/4". Closed the knife measures 4 3/8". The blade flipper allows for easy quick opening, which we are certain will be enjoyed extensively by our members.
The most unusual feature of our 2013 Club knife is the Custom Made handles of Airplane Aluminum, INLAID with MAMMOTH IVORY CHIPS (from tusks) and made especailly for the NKCA by Michel Prater & Company.
As you know, Prater has been working with us since 2010 in making our knives something special for NKCA MEMBERS, customizing each and every knife to a new dimension, truly making each piece a one-of-a-kind NKCA CLUB KNIFE!
Buy two club knives this year...
One to carry and another to put away with your collection. These are truly pieces you will be PROUD to carry, use, and discuss with everyone that sees your knife clipped onto your belt or in your pocket.
Is there a rough estimate of when the 2013 club/youth knives will ship out? Last year I got mine in September, I assume this year will be the same. Just curious.
The cutlery family lost a valued and cherished friend today, as did iKC and the Carter family. Even only knowing Wayne a short time was a gift.
I sincerely regret to inform you of the loss of my dear, loving, friend and Nat'l Knife Museum Board Member, WAYNE KOONS. Wayne suffered a heart attack this morning and passed away about an hour ago. Funeral arrangements will be posted later. (Lisa Sebenick)
Wayne was a good man, and a good friend. He loved knife collecting and devoted a great deal of his time and energy to promoting it, in all sorts of different ways. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who cared as deeply about knife collecting and collectors as Wayne did.
My heart goes out to Mary -- she and Wayne shared a number of wonderful years together and I hope she will take some consolation in the memories they made while traveling around the country in search of knives, knife collectors, and knife history. Lots of happy times, I am sure.
Rest in peace, my friend. Our little world will be a poorer place without you.
Also, I wanted to send my condolences to the Koons family. Although I never met him, his name was often mentioned when discussing NKCA collectibles and I respect the knowledge that he acquired during his years.
Tony Bose has produced a unique and beautifully hand-crafted IVORY handled, ATS34, custom knife opener to be used exclusively as one of the NKCA's 2013 Fundraisers.Bose' knife openers are extremely rare and very collectible! They can NOT be purchased, because Tony Bose only produces these for close family & friends; therefore we feel extremely privileged to have been given one of these very special knife openers by long-time NKCA Member, Tony Bose.
hey im sorry i have been attending to very very dear family matter...i wont get into it here and now but the NKCA news letters have gone out... when should we expct arrival... KNIFEKNERD i need of fix!!!... thanx STEVE for the update ,and LISA for getting it going again... ...i love pretty paper things with knives in them....LOL...IKC!!!
Is it time to renew? Dont let your membership lapse.
There are a few very good groups out there that support our right to own knives and I know the NKCA is active in supporting that effort with them. The NKCA is owned and supported by the members. It is the organization that actively goes and promotes knife collecting. What this means to you and I is there will continue to be interest in our hobby, fellowship with folks that like what we like, shows where we can see knives we dream about and if your investing in this...knife values would drop with no interest in the knives....So renew, join...SUPPORT
People I left a few spots un claimed ,I'd like spare's in case I get into a problem on the build. My plan was to haft those at the end ,with what I like. So I could take two more names at this point & would still allow an extra blade for my 'back up"
The work you are doing on these is wonderful. Thank you, to you and Tony for producing these for the NKCA. I appreciate your allowing the iKC members in on the gorund floor with this special knife
WOW...What can I say Vincent other then...THEY are GORGEOUS...thanks ever so much...Beautiful!!!...I am glad that I went with your recommendations ....oh by the Way...now I am REALLY Happy, Happy, Happy
