Thanks for the welcome, Scott. Got to thank Danny for extending the invitation. Looking forward to poking around a bit and checking out the site. This format may take some getting used to.

Hello Scott, Thanks for the offer and I will spend some time checking out the club. I am a moderator for the AAKC, American Knife Collectors Club on Yahoo also. You are welcome to come and visit with us anytime. We are a Knife collectors club built by collectors for collectors so I think we all have a lot in common.

Hey Scott, Thanks for the great welcome.
  • Doug Scearce

Thanks for the invite! I really in German cutlery like Fight'in Rooster's
and I have some Boker's, Hen & Rooster's,Kissing Crane's Robert Klaas. However I like all Knives in low run's.
  • Ed Henley

Sounds good. A Bulldog knives section would be great!! The new USA Bulldogs are sold out as fast as we can get them. Its a new era for Bulldog Brand. Great things to come, I feel! You coming to the June show??
  • J.J. Smith III

    Scott,
I looked at your Elephant toe website for some information. I picked up a Baby Sunfish a while back, and thought that one would look good with a Whittler set-up. Has any maker, that you know of, ever made an Elephant Toe with a Whittler configuration?

Haha Scott I wouldn't make it far myself but Val Kilmer was tenacious in the role of Scull. I really like what you are doing with the site here, kudos.
  • Mike Botts

Hi Scott. I've been poking around this site, trying to find a good way to put questions out there, and hopefully get some answers to questions I've had for years. Not being a member of a knife club, and having no living friends who are interested in pocket knives, it's hard to learn about certain knives of my own. What part of this site would you suggest I use for this purpose? Talk to you later! Mike.
  • David P. Baker

Thank You Scott. All natural Gemstone is the toughest handle material I know of. It doesn't scrath, swell, shrink and chemicals don't hurt it.My EDC knife has been carried in my pocket with change keys etc.. for over 3 years and the handles look like the day I made it. Great material and God's Art. You Guys have a nice club here.

Hey Scott I've got to learn from my daughter how to use her
new camera LOL. But I want to buy one my choice? Do you
have any ideas on brands that wont break the bank?
  • Earl Williams

    Scott,

I'm still learning my way around this site. I have left you a comment about my yellow handled collection --- but I left it on my page so you will have to go there to see it I guess. I'll learn my way around here soon I hope. It is a great idea and a much needed site for knife collectors. Thank you.

    Earl
  • Andy Voelkle "AxeMan"

I'm pleased to join iknifecollector, Scott-- thanks for the welcome. I see a note from Earl Williams about a yellow handled knife collection-- that's a fascinating point of view for a collection. I have a bunch of Randalls, all custom made for me. Working and adventure tools; never thought of them as a collection until I retired and joined the Gulf Coast Knife Club. Lately I've started liking my Fallkniven S1 a lot.
  • Earl Williams

You are right about the "Gold Rush". I don't think they made any other yellow handle toenails. Now you got me thinking --- is it the hunt or the knife? I really like the hunt because I see so many knives , but then I like all the knives too. I have over 500 at last count. That's why i wrote my program "Knife Collector" on www.ewillieware.com. I can keep track of the cost and current value and where they are stored.
  • Thomas J Clark

Scott, I haven't graduated to the point of pictures on the net as yet, my VCR still says 12:00.

I am slowly developing the skills necessary for this. I am in California near Sacramento.
  • David Bennett

    Hi Scott,
Thanks for the Welcome note. This should be fun and interesting. I don't know any other knife collectors so the hobby has always been a bit lonesome for me. I'm excited to participate in this site. My son is starting to be interested and asked if he could learn to whittle! I told him he had to wait till 13 to get his first knife so I think he's trying to circumvent that with the whittling lessons.
I'll be interested to see how this works out. Good luck with it.
I see you're a collector of 'Elephant toe Nails' I've always like that pattern but I only have one ... a prototype BullDog that I bought from Jim Parker years ago. Beautiful collection. i also see that you have a nice assortment of ephemera and boxes. My collection has centered around brands not patterns. i love your display.
  • Nigel Burkhardt

    Hi Scott,
I probably misspelled it - hypermiling. Getting the most from a gallon of gas...Yep, I'm that PIA guy in the right lane doing 5 mph below the speed limit! Slow starts and no-brakes stops...

Whatever you said seems to be working for the most part....about folks loading their pic. :)

All the "red heads" are gone from my page, LOL.
  • J.J. Smith III

Two answers: Peach "Pit" Monkey. Yep I carve them, along with baskets and other stuff out of Peach Pits.
And "Emote". It is supposed to be like the smilies that you can attach to e-mails. I couldnt get it to load right so I removed the app. May try again later...

  • J.J. Smith III

    Scott,
I came across an application that might be good for the home page..."Friends Map". It's under Misc. Thought it would be good, but requires members input their own location, It's not automatic locating, but it looked good.
    JJ
  • J.J. Smith III

No good putting it on member pages. I wan going to put it on mine, just for fun, but others would have to input their own locations. Figured it would be better on the home page for the entire group. 3%, you never know, we're replacing a lot of "Red Heads".
  • Wilma Slicer (Lynsie)

    Scott,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I was referred here by my good friend Tom Cai, and I like it already. The blog function gives me a good platform for pontificating about knives, and it seems like you've collected a fine group of enthusiasts here. I look forward to learning more from you all.
