I'm a multi-tasking father of 4, husband of one, real estate auctioneer and one who enjoys our hobby & nice knife folks.
Interests
Knife shows; KNIFE AUCTIONS; observing social changes brought on by technology and specifically its impact on our daily lives....and of course, all things Mac.
Poor man's market resurch is what I do on eBay. I quit selling about a year ago on eBay. I was not a large enough dealer to get administrative issues solved with both PPal and eBay... But I kept treading sales volumes, bids, $ for certain standard knives in lines, how many folks were listing in long term no bid "Buy Now".. At one time I kept a spreadsheet with a lot of this. Now its just what I see. But I see what I think are interesting treadings since last September. One key tread is just the gross number of Case listing... 9/08 over 10K now about 5,400 at any one time. Well last week on three days it jumped back up to nearly 11K. So I wrote a forum deal about why asking did anyone have opinions and just after publishing it I double checked and it was back at 5,400(+-). So I tried to get the egg off my face quickly by
I wish we could data mine that organization. I thought a few folks have but that's hearsay.
My comment was about my heart stoping after I wrote this first forum question and it was based on some kind of quirk. If I can find it... I lost my computer recently to lighting, I'll share the spread sheet. It was interesting but very time consuming. Now after doing it for a few month I can satisfy my need to know without Excel.
BTW: I see you're an auctioneer by trade... We may have a mutual friend - Bracky and Mark Rogers from the "Mayberry" area of NC and I know you know Tony Foster. Tony was a draftsman for my father at Westvaco in Charleston for 35 years. He's one facinating guy.
If you want me to find that file I'll try and if you want my 2 cents on what I see ebay and the eBay market treands from last October until now.
Brevity is not one of my strong point and neither are my spelling and grammar so have patiance... I'm Dyslecic and ADD and it can destroy ones ability to write well. but I can talk like hell... maybe not as you auctioneers do but I can hold my own.
I don't know if it was what we where talking about all members putting where there from ? but I noticed that all the new members had there location under there name if so thanks . Enjoyed talking to you at the swap meet and Mark was glad you showed up .See you soon Gary
hey scott...here are some samples of my knives...the bowie is historically correct with ebony wood handle and solid brass...the other knives are imported french stag, olive wood, buffalo with bone inlay
I almost gave up my Birthday years ago when I decided it woudl be a good idea to get married on that day (so I KNEW I wouldn't forget our Anniv), so nowdays I have an Anniversary and only occasionally a Birthday. :-) I think that probably means I'm still in my 20's...
Hi Scott ! And thanks for the greeting. I'll take it slow till I get the feel for this site. About the autos, most of my old ones are junk, but I do have one or two "class" ones. Here in NYC switchblades are hard to find.I guess that being that the movie"Blackboard Jungle" was shot here ,NYC is in part responsible for the dam law being passed.
Of course what with all the class new stuff out there, the old stuff seems like junk.Hey catch you down the road

hey Scott, thanks for the welcome!I do own one case toenail they are cool knives.Ant it funny how on paticular style or or type of handle can thrill a mortal man!lol. must be something wrong with us but I just dont care.Even my wife likes small toothpicks, shes at least excepting my glorious affliction!.....Mike
Hi Scott, Thought you might want to see this. I still have to work on getting the COAs printed before the whole project is finished. Looks like the uploading images is fixed. Brad
Thanks Scott.
I feel much better now, got pics to the intended folks.
Have a good trip.
I'm going to try to find something special at the show this weekend.
Thank Scott.. I appreciate the welcome. That would be cool to have a Schrade group. I'll have to go and comment on that.
I think this will be a fun place to come and chat as well as learn.
Looks great from what I see so far and pretty cool setup too.
hey Scott, i am having problems uploading an image. is anyone else having probems. i click the "camera" icon and go to browse, when i click add, it just goes to the loading page .... and thats it. it never loads. i have tried pics from my computer, and my flashdrive. is it me or the system?
i love this site, everyone is so welcoming and frendly. its good to talk to other knife guys, all my friends (even tho they are mechanics) are not really knife people. this is a great place to learn and have fun talking about knives. thanks again for providing us with this awesome stie.
hey i just read your iKC avatar discussion. i was amused by your comment on my Welcome to iKC gift! lol you are not upset that i used your pic for that are you? i will stop using it if you like. i dont want to upset anyone!
i thought it was funny and hope you do too!
Scott, you've made iKC a great place to visit with new and old friends. That is a very special thing. I'm learning new things from people young enough to be my grandkids, and I'm able to pass on a few things I've learned. That's great. And I like your new photo.

Just a combination of basic photo editing (MS Paint), IranView and PhotoBucket.
Just let we know about what you want to stock in the store...
