Just let we know about what you want to stock in the store...

    Scott,

Poor man's market resurch is what I do on eBay. I quit selling about a year ago on eBay. I was not a large enough dealer to get administrative issues solved with both PPal and eBay... But I kept treading sales volumes, bids, $ for certain standard knives in lines, how many folks were listing in long term no bid "Buy Now".. At one time I kept a spreadsheet with a lot of this. Now its just what I see. But I see what I think are interesting treadings since last September. One key tread is just the gross number of Case listing... 9/08 over 10K now about 5,400 at any one time. Well last week on three days it jumped back up to nearly 11K. So I wrote a forum deal about why asking did anyone have opinions and just after publishing it I double checked and it was back at 5,400(+-). So I tried to get the egg off my face quickly by

    Continued: zapping it out.

I wish we could data mine that organization. I thought a few folks have but that's hearsay.

My comment was about my heart stoping after I wrote this first forum question and it was based on some kind of quirk. If I can find it... I lost my computer recently to lighting, I'll share the spread sheet. It was interesting but very time consuming. Now after doing it for a few month I can satisfy my need to know without Excel.

BTW: I see you're an auctioneer by trade... We may have a mutual friend - Bracky and Mark Rogers from the "Mayberry" area of NC and I know you know Tony Foster. Tony was a draftsman for my father at Westvaco in Charleston for 35 years. He's one facinating guy.

If you want me to find that file I'll try and if you want my 2 cents on what I see ebay and the eBay market treands from last October until now.

Brevity is not one of my strong point and neither are my spelling and grammar so have patiance... I'm Dyslecic and ADD and it can destroy ones ability to write well. but I can talk like hell... maybe not as you auctioneers do but I can hold my own.

Hi Scott ! And thanks for the greeting. I'll take it slow till I get the feel for this site. About the autos, most of my old ones are junk, but I do have one or two "class" ones. Here in NYC switchblades are hard to find.I guess that being that the movie"Blackboard Jungle" was shot here ,NYC is in part responsible for the dam law being passed.
Of course what with all the class new stuff out there, the old stuff seems like junk.Hey catch you down the road

Scott, you've made iKC a great place to visit with new and old friends. That is a very special thing. I'm learning new things from people young enough to be my grandkids, and I'm able to pass on a few things I've learned. That's great. And I like your new photo.
