I am married to a wonderful women who lets me pursue my passions. I have been collecting knives for years but i just started to make my own knives in 2008 and i have a lot of questions. I joined this site to get some advice and to hone my skills. Right now i make fixed blade knives, and I prefer using stag, and deer bone for the handles. I work in construction doing renovations, decks, and add ons.
Interests
Making and assembling knives, deer hunting both gun and bow, fishing and fly fishing whenever I get a chance.
I am glad to know I am not the only guilty party on this web site. I will be adding some of my work over the next couple of days. If I can answer any of your questions please ASK. the only dumb question is the one you do not ask.
Thank you for your support. I have been hunting all day for matrials and "STUFF" to put together a reg forge and a gas forge. It's a good thing that I have a freind in the scrap iron buisness - he supplied me with some good parts and some brass sheets. I will keep you posted on my progress.
Thanks for the welcome! Good to be here but still feeling my way around! I will be sure to check out your profile and pics, stop by my website and see what I have been up to..... I am currently setting up the necessary machinery to venture into Folders. Will you be at Blade 2010, Atlanta? The only advice I have for you at the moment is "find your own style, secure your own footprint, don't copy other makers and don't take orders...." !!!! Best regards, Peter
Yeah ... I'm kinda fond of that barrel knife myself. An antique store find some years ago. You'll still see em on Ebay now & again. That ones one of the smaller ones. OAL closed ~ 3.375". Open ~ 5.5". Kinda cute ... taint it !!!
Jeff, I posted a bunch of pics last night. Some of my kinda sorta unique stuff. From some old autos & OTF (hehe) to a 19th century quill knife. Take a looksie !!!
Hey Jeff,
The stubby came in today. Looks great.
Little time on the stones and I'll have it shaving sharp.
Tell Melissa that I really like the sheath and the texturing that she added to the front.
New pics will have to wait. We're heading to Charlotte, NC tomorrow for a carving show.
Thanks again,
JJ
""hey Jesse, nice photo! you look all grown up!"" Thanks Jeff, that's was taken at Jekyll Island, GA in February. BTW, Are you implying that I didn't before?
Hey Jeff .. I just made some changes to my iKC pg .. I've a quest for you .. how'd you get the series of individual pics on the left side of your iKC pg ??
I see you're from Lake Co. My great-grandfather, grandfather, and father were born there in Lowell. My great-great-grandfather and his brother were pioneer settlers there in 1836. Abram R. and Horatio N. Nichols.
aaaah kyley mentioned you on one of his vids! i'll have to get ahold of one of your knives, i like your work.
yeah the stag hiker is fat, but he designed it for a different hold, its extremely comfortable in a sideways grip. the #1 belt knife was a surprise, when i ordered kyley said i'd be getting the #3, so that was cool. i also have the #1 of his special edition christmas hiker.
I see your reasonong now.
Guess I'm just a basic, right handed, simple styling type of fellow.
Do like the style of the bowie though, gool luck with the auction.
