Hey Robert- I just realized you are a member here. Did you say you got locked out? Sorry. I don't know if after a while the system resets itself, but glad you came back. If you don't mind me asking- when was the last time you'd been back to iKC before you got locked out?

Welcome to the Great Eastern Cutlery Group, we're glad you joined us.

  • Andy Voelkle "AxeMan"

Thanks for the friends invite, amigo! I'm playing with a lot of new axes and saws up in my little 30ac piece of primal woods in Cut and Shoot, TX. Makes me about as happay as a cat. Winter here in South-East Texas is about the only pleasant searon. Humidity is usually lower than the 85% summer average, and temperatures rarely freeze.
  • Andy Voelkle "AxeMan"

Fine looking mess of fish. I've had the pleasure of hunting in Louisiana occasionally since 1954. One of natures wonderlands. A sportsman's paradise, for sure.
  • Doug Scearce

Hey Robert welcome to Ikc!!   Man you should do have a lot of game , and fish down there. I've always wanted to kill a hog like that . y'all have any rabbits or the gators get them?

    Hey Robert-

HI Rob..Looks like a great page...I hope to stop by later and see if I can post something. I dont mind at all that you used my knife pictures.  I am glad to have it up there.  I think I saw a pictures of crawfish with the big knife as well.  Really nice.

    Robert,

Thats wonderful, how old are they?  It's not really my group.  It is the NKCA.  You can make the girls Jr. Members for just $5.00.  It is a great way to help support the organization and start our young folks out with an appreciation for knives.  We certainly have seen more interest by girls and women over the past few years.  I know the middle one in my picture here is going to Papa's knife girl.  She loves for Donnie to let her "sharpen a knife".  Whenever he gets out a stone we have to have one for her also.  Mostly right now she sharpens popsicle sticks since she is only 2.

The gumbo sounds great!. I visited Baton Rouge about 24 years ago. I still recall sharing a big pot of Crawfish Etouffee as one of my best meals ever. All the best
  • Mardig Sheridan

Thank you for the welcome Robert.
  • Marvin Winn

I call it Da' Mudbug because it looks kinda like a crawfish swimming with the blade being the claws.

    Michael Bolen

Thanks Robert, I'll be there soon with the rest of the Irish.
  • Frank Stennett

Robert, Ridgewood knives has cotton samplers. I bought one.
  • Jan Carter

That is so sweet, Donnie said to tell you in wont need to be a very big big tree. LOL,  He measured to my elbow which is 40 inches so add 8 its 48.  What knife is in pic # 67?  Laying across the squirrels, it is really nice.
  • Jan Carter

Well, 48 makes sense to me, I am only 5 foot tall.  I have to get a stool to get cans out of the upper cabnits.  My Daddy always said I should sue to the city, they made the sidewalk too close to my butt.  Donnie on the other hand is 6'3'', he reaches about everything for me :).  That Treeman is sure a good lookin knife
  • Terry Waldele

    Robert, thanks for the invite.

  • John Lynch

The only irish made knife i ever owned was an old 3 blade imperial knife. i believe they were made in listowel county cork, here in ireland, and from what i can remember the quality of this knife was not the best. plastic handles, and the blades were stamped, Imperial made in Ireland. im not sure what ever became of this knife but if i come accross it, i will post some pics

    Hi Robert!
Your question is a difficult one. My design ideas may come from a visual I see - like a plant, or the way a leaf curls. I may have a dream about an idea and go from there. I meditate and ideas can come during that time. Or I may give myself an assignment with strict parameters, and design with that.
No matter what, my design aesthetic always involves "beauty".
I hope this answers your question!! Thanks for asking!!!
  • Jan Carter

Hey best PawPaw in the swamp!!!  Talk to me about knives.  which of these aare you liking the best
