About Me
I am fairly new in the bus., collecting. and making of knives... it sort of hit me fast but Hard. I am a Cal. knives member, S.C. Blades member and am from Titusville Pa. The fact that my grand parents live literally across the street from the Cyclops SteelWorks site made me a GEC man right from the get -go.
My family calls me Josh, as I am Joe Martin Ball III. It gets tough when there are three Joe Balls in a town of five thousand. Also my father and I have a business called Schouweiler-Ball American Knives, Limited.... so again there two Joe Balls, so Josh will work just fine in this "family" as well.
Interests
I have been worked in the fields of caretaker for the developmentally and physically disabled community in various ways for many many years. I am also trained as a hospice worker. I am an artist (painting) currently and a poet (sort-of).
My newest passion has been knife making ever since my first California Knife Maker's Association meeting was held at Bob Loveless' work-shop. The blessings and openness of the knife community was on full display and I am down with the disease, as they say.
Sorry for not getting back sooner to your last comment...about you being an advocate for iKC- THANKS. We are having fun here and it is different than just a forum, as you can tell. If you have any suggestions on making it even better let me know....I can't change the code to the site but can do a few things. Thanks again, Joe.
Hi Joe
Welcome to the GEC group. We're glad you joined us. Sorry about taking so long to welcome you, but I spent a week with my boys in Ontario on a fishing trip. I see you are into fishing, you might want to look at the pic's I've posted.
Hello Joe Ball, when it comes to 2007 GEC knives I am trying to collect all of the #53 Cubans with acrylic handles. I think in 2007 only the Northfields had acrylic Cubans. I have six different ones now and I need four more. The Grits & Molasses is going to be real hard to find, but I am willing to pay alot for it or maybe a few dirty deeds. P.S. To me the #53 Cuban is the three blade stockman not the muskrat. Good Luck my friend, talk to you later.
