Excellent Ron; here's some pics to give you just a glimpse of my work.
Mother of Pearl, Hand Engraved Bolster's, (Clint Orms), file work and painstaking assembly by yours truely..40 years ago!! I'll try to fit more pics in one comment and how do I make sure these get up for all to see...(still learning how to navigate here!) Rob.P.
Here's a shot of the Barlow..Mammoth Ivory (purchased from Russia and Alaska), the Scimshaw was done by Joe Luiz, Newport, Rhode Island, also 40+ years old..
Ron, thanks for the like & comments on my lock back folder. The blade material is 440. I did not do the knife from scratch. I purchased the parts with the blade heat treated & thru the first grind. I did some change to the blade & final polished as well as the other parts. The handle material I purchased, shaped & fitted, assembled & final polished. I do not have the equipment to blade grind & heat treat. Buffalo horn is a good handle material, holds up well & is respectably economical material to use.
I don't have a dog buddha-I hear the voices in a different way- I was watching a rerun of M*A*S*H* and I heard them say Trappers, John,- Must* Accumulate* Several* Handles*- I swear, that's what I heard ! LOL
Ron: Thanks for viewing my dog, Albert. I'm here to learn; I plan to visit the "repair and customize" section often. Any restoration or repair tips you see, I'd appreciate if you'd shake my tree. ---Bryan O
Hello Ron, just wanted to let you know that I put up a short video of the un-boxing of the knives! Take care and enjoy your week. By the way, really like your page set up. great graphics!
Ron, sounds like they have a good idea of what to do. And that they have good plans but painful ones. I know what you mean by the new MRI machine, I have had both and the new one is much more comfortable. The shots in the back are working for me, sounds like you will have much more than that. Anyway, hope all goes well, the back can be very painful. God bless Ron. Ken
Hi, Ron! Thanks for the birthday greetings! I guess I've reached that age where I have to buy my own birthday presents. Thanks to eBay & Amazon that's a gas! Not only a new guitar, but a new EDC: An Al Mar "Nomad". I've wanted one of those for a long time & so far it's been worth my waiting. Life is good.
Hahahaha. Ok, I'll take point. Damn if I ain't the oldest guy in the hunting/shooting crew, as well. My best buddy in this crew just turned 68 in January. But, I am having a great day. Already got a Firebox camp stove and some books from my Darlin.
