Hey James
Glad to have you join us here at iKC. Good group of folks here. Got knife interest that ranges from antique to modern and all ages too. Make yourself at home and if I can help, let me know.
Scott
With your experiance, you can about pick any group and jump right in. The American Knife Collectors group and the SharpFans Group are represented here and are offshoots of off-site knife collectors groups. Check them out.
After spending much of my life on the Northern Plains I moved to Sierra Vista from Montana about ten months ago. I am really enjoying it here. The only snow I now see is way up on the surrounding mountain tops........right where it should be!!
Flagstaff has some very pretty country and is especially nice during the summer months. Congratulations on your home there. I hope you will enjoy it very much.
Uhm, messed up friend request. Anyway, depending on your catering work (if It's Asian then there is much more performance and depth to get).
So I suppose my question is, do you perform cosmetic cutting as in making a rose out of 1mm thick shavings of vegetables or do you mainly work with meat and heavy action?
If It's the first option then I can help you make your job a breeze (atleast cutting wise, I'm a polisher and strong fanatic of HRC 66 kitchen knives).
While saying that though, the one knife I treasure the most comes from Randy, even more than my swords that cost so much that I don't want to think about it.
Thank you James! I am working on getting my full list of knives down now so that I can get them insured. I guess i would like to know how much they are all worth. Have any ideas on how I would go about doing that?
Thanks, James, for the kind comment. Being busy in today's economy is a good thing, I would imagine? Glad to have you aboard here at iKC! No worries, there are no hard and fast time schedules about participation. Drop in when you can. I don't know if you saw the memo about the Knife Expo that will that place at the Pasadena Convention Center on March 8th, 9th & 10th? You might want to check that out if you're in the neighborhood. Here is a link that will give you all of the particulars...
I'm glad you saw the notice about the show. I hope to catch one of those days. i'm not sure if I'm clear about which Club you're referring to? Help me out here, will ya?
Sorry for any misunderstanding, but I am not a member of the So Cal Blades. I was just posting about their Blade Expo in Pasadena next weekend. I posted about a Custom Knife Show on the east coast this weekend, as well. I guess that's why I was confused about the club meeting you were asking me about. I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that I was a member.
I will gladly accept your friendship. Thanks for the well wished for my business. It needs all the help it can get. So you are from Michigan; what part? I live about 5 miles from the boarder in Mishawaka IN. Hope all is well with you in CA. Take care.
Always like makin' new friends James but don't even want to consider a world without coffee. I NEED my Hills Bros! French Roast! I don't buy coffee buy the cup if I can help it too much money!
