Welcome! Your profile sounds a lot like mine. I'm retired. My interests are guns and knives. My other hobbies include anything to do in the woods. I don't live in Michigan but I do live in northern Alabama.
I don't have any tacticals at this point. I have been collecting for a several years but until the last year or two, it was hit and miss. I was given several knives and I just bought what caught my eye. Since I found this site, I have become more focused and am trying to upgrade my collection. I still haven't picked one brand or pattern to concentrate on. I do now have some Case and Buck knives. I have a vacation planned in July to Pigeon Forge. I definitely will spend some time (and money) at SMKW.
As far as fishing, I am 10 miles from Wheeler Lake on the Tennessee River. Just downstream from Wheeler is Wilson Lake and just upstream is Guntersville Lake.
A friend at church lets me hunt on his farm just five miles from my house. Deer are plentiful and we have a three and a half month long deer season with a limit of two a day. I let a lot of deer walk this past season but killed two bucks, a six and a seven point. You can see some of my game pics on the Outdoor group.
Finding a place to hunt can be a problem around here too. A lot of the land is leased by hunting clubs. In past years I have leased small pieces of property myself. But the last few years my friend at church lets me hunt without charge. He even lets me park my 4 wheeler in one of his sheds. I have put up two shooting houses and a couple of ladder stands. Also have made some salt licks. The deer really use those. On my game cameras I have gotten pictures of as many as 13 deer gathered around one of my salt licks.
The owner's son and grandson also hunt the property and use the stands I have put up.
