This group is hosted by D ale, for knife enthusiasts who are interested in repairing, modifiying, restoring or improving knives, including fixed blades, folders and automatics of all types.
I recently completed this rehandle project for a client. A Buck 547 skinner, the client is a huge fan of sambar stag, but it is getting hard to find stag the size of which we needed for this project. I should also add that he likes for his knives to be stag from end to end...so I had to hide all of the hardware with exception of the actual handle fasteners. I reached out to a vendor in upstate New York and was able to get ahold of a nice piece of Elk beam. Here's a picture of the Elk as I received it, some pictures of the factory knife and then of the finished project.
