I enjoy the history of the cutlery industry. As a result, I've a few stampings ya just don't see everyday.

Finding/researching the varied stampings has been an enjoyable journey into the history of the cutlery industry.

Along the way, I've been exposed to a wide variety of design approaches.

Which generated an interest in the different approaches to locking a folder in place.

From there ... the varied design approaches of an automatic.

!!! .
I'm having fun . !!!

Thanks for the advice and photo Dale - that looks very useful. I've noticed the square / diamond hole and use of it in the past, most recently of course with the mosaics. I'll see if I can find a vise similar to yours, or at least make addons as you suggest for the small metal vise I currently use. I remember as a kid, my dad always had one small, thin looking vise. with wood attached to the metal face plates for working on softer, or more delicate materials. I had not thought of that much in many years

Hi D ale,

I left some info. regarding the Boker tang stamp you sent me the link for. The info. is from a friend of mine who did all the research. We discussed that very same knife awhile back on All About Pocket Knives. Maybe the owner never went back and read it, so I posted it up for him on iKC. I have seen that old Boker tang stamp before, but have never seen another one with the name Daniel Butz on it. Take care.
