I enjoy the history of the cutlery industry. As a result, I've a few stampings ya just don't see everyday.

Finding/researching the varied stampings has been an enjoyable journey into the history of the cutlery industry.

Along the way, I've been exposed to a wide variety of design approaches.

Which generated an interest in the different approaches to locking a folder in place.

From there ... the varied design approaches of an automatic.

!!! .
I'm having fun . !!!

Well, howdy, Dale — I mean, neighbor.
Thanks for the welcome from a fellow Missourian.
I sent you a "friend request."
Keep your powder dry.

Thanks for pointing me to Dean Case web site...Via e mail I sent him pix of the set & individual pix on knife. His response was that he had Case make them for him & he believed less than 100 sets were made & about 6 dozen of them were given to those that helped him with his web site & "Kinfolks Book". He believes Case made some extras but indicated definitely I have a rare find. Thank you again...Jim

Thanks for the info on Kinfolks. I will visit the web site. I have had the book for some time. In reading the book the Case family was pretty much dedicated to knives as well as competing against each other in the industry.

Thanks for the advice and photo Dale - that looks very useful. I've noticed the square / diamond hole and use of it in the past, most recently of course with the mosaics. I'll see if I can find a vise similar to yours, or at least make addons as you suggest for the small metal vise I currently use. I remember as a kid, my dad always had one small, thin looking vise. with wood attached to the metal face plates for working on softer, or more delicate materials. I had not thought of that much in many years
