Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a new thread asking folks to show a Buck knife photo or two. I like just about anything made by Buck. But, am drawn to the Gold etch art knives and love stag handles.

I want one of those.

I guess while I am on, I should post some pics.

wow Billy, those are nice!  Love the shield on the lower one

this one is now on pension....

it was my daily pocket-partner for almost 20 years and survived :   1 police arrest,  2 jobs,  3 houses,  4 dogs,  5 cars,  6 phones  and 7 lunchboxes

it was (mis)used as hammer, screwdriver, castingweight, doorstopper, axe, canopener, tentpeg, spear, chisel and more...

dishwashers, seawater, extreme cold, sand, washing machine, or a 12 meter drop on a concrete floor never were a problem... even when a van drove over it by accidence it did not scream !!

i took it to fancy hotels, fishing trips, bbqs, mountains, beaches and it even was on stage with the band more than once

it is bumped and scratched a little (this is the most undamaged side)  but still 100% ok   no movement  in lock or washers and even the inlaid rubber still feels like 25 years ago

comfortably flat, light, strong and shaped so that it would never damage clothing ....  carried bottom-down and with the clip positioned on the axle  so that the knife sticks out a little ( i personaly like that more than" deep inside " clips )

as i said... this knife is now retired..... before it goes bad ( the lock reached its final position )  and i thought that a buck vantage would be a nice replacement but....... i took that back to the shop within a few days ( dull. bad centered and a lot of space )  NO COMPARISON

at the moment my edc is  the new lionsteel TM-1  and sometimes my mcusta tactility  but i would never try to abuse them as i did my old crosslock  !!!   ( why is a knife like this discontinued ?)  buck still makes the 110  so why not this superknife ??  ohhh i know ...  if they all keep on going for 20+ years they dont sell enough   :-)

 BUCK CROSSLOCK 180.... RESPECT !!

Sometimes we look at an older knife and think if only this knife could talk, Oh the stories it could tell.  I am grateful to know the story of this one and although retired, I know it will always be a valued part of the collection!

I showed my 311 Slimline Trapper earlier in this thread, but thought I'd post a photo here of my newest Buck acquisition, (I have posted photos of it in other threads). This is a seldom seen 322 Congress made by Camillus for Smokey Mountain Knife Works. These were never cataloged by Buck and were only available through the SMKW catalog, (made in one year only, 1995, and may have been listed in later catalogs). There were two versions, one with black Delrin handles like mine, and one with red Delrin handles. Which version is rarest is debatable, but neither version is very common. These were not just re-branded Camillus Congress knives, as CC versions were configured differently, ie they were reversed as far as nail nicks & blade placement were concerned, so these Buck versions were unique. Tight blades, definitive half stops, strong springs with great snap all around, no blade rub of any kind. Of my ten or so USA Bucks this one is my favorite and most carried, it is a superb pocket knife by any standard.

They did not come with a sheath, but I just so happened to have a genuine leather Buck sheath for 3 1/2" knives, so that is my preferred carry method, though it is perfectly sized for pocket carry.

Oops, I mentioned in the above post that the 322 Congress came in two versions, which is correct, however those versions were black and yellow NOT black & red  like I mentioned. Sorry for that mistake.

Thanks for clearing that up Syd!

Very nice Charles, that version of the 309 has a spring for each blade if I'm not mistaken, compared to older versions which only had one. The one I have snaps shut like a trap. Congratulations, you earned that knife by working safely in an industrial environment, no small feat. As a person who has been seriously injured in an industrial injury I appreciate an award like that very much. Work injuries alter lives, let's hope 3 mil more hours go by injury free.

Looks like we each have grandsons who will reap the benefits of our obsessions with knives. My little guy's name is Michael, (one year old last week), only problem is I can't keep his mother away from my knives, (she's more like me than I thought). She leaves with one or two each time she visits, picking out the ones that "look cool", whatever that means. Took off with my only kukris the other day saying, "I'll put them in the cedar chest for Michael"...yeah sure!! She ain't gettin' my Bucks though, (at least not yet).
